AWARENESS SLOGANS ON LOHRI

Lohri, the harvest festival of Punjab, was celebrated with great fervour. Every year, a great number of birds get injured or killed because of chinese string which is used by many people for flying kites. Students of classes 6th and 7th wrote enthralling slogans against the use of Chinese string and made other children aware about its ill effects.

The main objective behind the celebration was to propagate the philosophy and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and to promote rational thinking among the youth of the country. Keeping this in mind, a poetry and essay writing competition was organised for the students of classes VIII. ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION

The starting point of all achievement is desire. If one has the desire to succeed, one surely will. With this in mind and to boost the morale of the students,  BCM School Chandigarh Road  held its Virtual Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. It was the time to applaud and reward the students for their sincere efforts for the academic session 2019-20. The school honoured all its achievers for having attained a sterling record in scholastic domain. Students of classes I to VIII were honoured for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony commenced by invoking God’s blessings followed by school song sung by the choir, yoga show and dance performance by the students.

The e-certificates were conferred upon the well deserving students. School Principal D.P.Guleria motivated the winners to go ahead to achieve their heart’s desire –whatever that may be. He went on to remind them to continue to uphold the values that are such an integral part of the institution. School Manager Dr. Prem Kumar appreciated the efforts put in by the students and the faculty for their overall performances and wished for them to come through with flying colours in future too.

It was indeed a proud moment not only for the recipients of the awards but also for their Parents who had been virtually invited to partake in the glory of their ward’s success.

ADOLESCENT SUMMIT

CBSE in association with Expression India organised 9th International Adolescent Summit on Life Skills, Health, Safety & School Wellbeing for classes 6th to 12th. During the course of the Summit, the students were engaged with participants from schools across the country and abroad in various events that would help foster a newer understanding of 21st century life skills, innovative programs for promoting values, gender sensitivity, health and wellbeing.

CELEBRATION OF GANIT WEEK II MIDDLE WING II

Mathematics is one of the essential emanations of the human spirit, a thing to be valued in and for itself - like art or poetry. Considering this, a week- long celebration of Ganit week commemorated from December 17, 2019 to December 22,2019. The celebration of ‘GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations & Training) WEEK’ had a distinct flavour when hands came together, showcasing the diverse activities. To dispel Maths phobia and create a love for the subject, young learners were shown various ppts. The week started with special ppt of Vedic Maths (Ancient Mathematics), where techniques were taught to students to enable them to advance their aptitude potential and confidence. They were also made aware about the life history of great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan through ppt presentation. They were also made aware about the usage of mathematics in daily life. Students participated in large numbers, displaying spirited enthusiasm, absorbing information and enjoying the stimulating exercise of the mind in Model Making on the topic ‘Fun with Shapes’

Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Keeping this in mind, a webinar was conducted for the students of class VIII in which they were made aware about rights & duties given to each citizen in constitution of India.

ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY II MIDDLE WING II

The Armed Forces Flag Day or the Flag Day of India is a day dedicated to India towards armed forces of India. It has been observed annually in India on December 7 since 1949. Over the years, it has become a tradition to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India. Keeping this in mind, A webinar was conducted for the students of Class VIII in which they were sensitized about dedication and hardship of different armed forces. The way they safeguard the whole nation at borders. They were also made aware about the career options in Armed Forces.

LSSC STORY TELLING COMPETITION

Stories are never–ending journeys, hidden talents or suppressed memories, all waiting to be told. LSSC Online Story Telling Competition for the students of class III to V was organized by Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, Ludhiana on 21st November, 2020. Aditi Bagga of class V and Rhythm of class IV outshone the other participants and brought laurels to the school. Aditi bagged first position in English Story Telling and Rhythm secured second position in Hindi Story Telling.

KAMP-NASTA (Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform)

An initiative of CSIR-NISTADS was held on 27th and 28th of January and was widely accepted by schools across the country. It was supported by the prestigious education boards of the country including CBSE, State Board of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, also in all Kendriya Vidhalaya’s, Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalaya’s under MHRD. KAMP was able to identify and recognize 12 National Toppers, 178 State toppers and 824 District toppers from different parts of India. Aditi Sharma and Raghav Bhatia are presented with “Medal of Excellence” for achieving the remarkable feat as “DISTRICT TOPPER”.

Sacred Heart Convent School organized LSSC Computer Carnival 2020, A two day long event in which 18 schools from Ludhiana participated in various competitions. Nancy Katiyar of Class VIII A participated in cyber caption ( poster making in MS Word) and bagged 1st position, Aaradhya Jain of Class VI D bagged 2nd position in  Cyber view (Declamation Contest) and Jay Jain of Class IV bagged 3rd position in Cyber Splendour (poster making in MS Paint).

Commemoration of Book Week II Primary & Middle wingII

Books are the gateway between the past and present or future. To celebrate the joy of reading books, a plethora of activities were organized for BCMites during a week-long celebration commencing from November 17 to November 23. First, the teachers explained to students the importance of books and the role played by books in one’s life in their online class. Later on, the students participated in various activities like book cover and bookmark. They also narrated inspirational stories with gestures. They read books and later on wrote book reviews of the same.

DIWALI CELEBRATION

To make the students understand the importance of Diwali and to illuminate everyone’s heart with joy and festive fervor, a bunch of exhilarating online “Mom & Me” activities were organized for the students. Students of Class I and II learnt to arrange floating flowers and candles in pots. Students of class III participated in Paper Lantern making activity. Students of Class IV made colourful Rangolis using flowers and dry colours. Students of class V helped their mothers in decoration of Puja Rooms. Students of Class VI made Sand Paper Paintings while students of Class VII to VIII showcased their creativity in making beautiful Torans and Bandanvaars. Demo classes were also given to students one week before this activity. Teachers explained the importance of Diwali, the festival that spiritually signifies the victory of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil, and hope over despair. Both the students and the teachers participated in it with a lot of excitement and passion and enjoyed the Diwali celebrations wholeheartedly.

NATIONAL LEVEL QUIZ COMPETITION

Mohit Verma of BCM School procured 2nd position in National Level Quiz

India’s Wild Wisdom Quiz endorsed by Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is a big attraction among students. The quiz is conducted every year for the students of classes 3rd to 8th. A huge number of students participated  in it from all over India. This year the theme of  Wild Wisdom Quiz was “Reimagine Our Planet”.  Mohit Verma of Class VIII A outshone the other participants and secured 2nd position in this national level quiz. Principal D.P. Guleria congratulated him for his great achievement and motivated others also to stretch their limits to achieve new heights.

INTER-BCM VIRTUAL QUIZ

The current situation has ceased the students to enter into the school premises but they are not deprived of learning new things.

To encourage the students to explore beyond the limits of their text books, BCM School Chandigarh road hosted an Inter BCM Virtual Quiz on the theme “Panoramic View of India” for the students of Classes VI to VIII. Participating teams comprised of Ritesh Kumar  and Jagatvir Singh from BCM School Basant City, Mohit verma and Raghav Bhatia from BCM School Chandigarh Road, Sachkeerat Singh and Gauransh from BCM School Dugri & Sneha Dubey and Harman Rana from BCM School Focal Point. The event started with the Gayatri Mantra which was followed by motivating words of Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria.

Quiz Mentor, Ms. Gurmeet Kaur welcomed all the teams and initiated the virtual quiz with the introduction of the participants. The contestants had to go through mazes of  mind-boggling rounds viz. warm up, visual, puzzler, trouble shooter and game changer round. The questions were based on the topics like current affairs, geography, history, sports, and English. It was an extremely educational and information enriching competition for the participants along with the audience. All the four teams left no stone unturned in putting their best foot forward but as the trend goes there has to be a winner. BCM Chandigarh Road clinched the first position by securing the maximum points. BCM Focal Point got the second position while BCM Basant City secured the third position. The event culminated with the vote of thanks by Ms. Vandana Sahi  (TGT S.St).

“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others.”

The teacher acts as the guide for life, show the path towards success and enrich the personality of their disciples by imparting ethical and academic knowledge. Students and teachers are far away from each other but they are connected online. Students of classes VI to VIII made this day special for their teachers by participating in plethora of activities. They made beautiful cards, wrote thank you messages, made videos to express their gratitude etc. for their beloved teachers. They shared photos with their teachers.

Online Celebration of Reading Week

Reading week  with full enthusiasm was celebrated for the students of all Classes from Sep. 8 - ( following the guidelines of CBSE). A plethora of activities was organized. Students prepared  e-slogans highlighting the importance of education. Students had a joy of reading books of their interest available in their homes or on internet during “DEAR” activity. Online story telling session by teachers were conducted to bring reading to life and to inspire students to read more. Online reading sessions were also organized and students were encouraged to share the short stories written by them, share the review of the book of any genre read by them or share the story of the person who inspired them the most. Online Read-a-Thon was also organized wherein Fastest Reader of class was acknowledged. Students were also motivated to make Online Book-Buddies wherein they were paired to choose and read a book and then present the findings before the class. Students wrote biographies of authors and inspiring personalities. Reading games/Riddles and Puzzles were also part of this event. Students were also encouraged to integrate Reading with Fine Arts by drawing pictures/posters on the basis of poem/story/book read by them.

Virtual Celebration of Hindi Diwas

On account of ‘Hindi Diwas’, officially celebrated on the 14th of September, various online events were organised for the students by Hindi department.  BCMites rejoiced as they celebrated Hindi Diwas with enthusiasm and fervour to emphasize the importance of National Language. They participated in a plethora of activities consisting of Kavita Gayan, Doha Gayan, Kahani Buno, Hasya Kavita, Shabdmala Antakshri, Parichyokti lekhan, Ekal Abhinay, Biographies of authors and poets etc. To make the event fun filled and interesting, there was a round of riddles and puzzles also. The event was an initiative to make the students respect and learn the importance of our official language – ‘Hindi’. The presence of students in large number led the event to be a grand success.

Ozone Day Celebration

Students in grades 1 to 5 celebrated International Ozone Day on September 16, 2020 on the theme “Ozone for Life” with great delight. Eco Club organized different online activities for students to make a small but significant contribution in the environment. In the virtual morning assembly, a Power point presentation on the importance of saving Ozone layer was shared with students. Grade 1 & 2 teachers explained the term Ozone layer, the importance of protecting this layer and the harmful effect, if it is depleted to the students. The teachers also told the students that they can protect the ozone layer by recycling, planting, and not using electronics that will have a negative effect on the ozone layer. As a part of the event students of class 3 participated in Slogan Writing on the topic “Use Ozone Friendly Products” and students of class 4 made thought provoking posters on the theme of ‘‘A World without Ozone Layer”.  Students of class 5 prepared Power points presentations on the theme “Journey of Ozone Hole’s Recovery” show casing that how hole in the Ozone layer is healing. Holding this event has helped motivate students to reduce and recycle waste materials. They identified the reasons behind the ozone layer depletion and the detrimental effects on human life.

National Sports Day

National Sports day is one of the greatest events in BCM school calendar and we couldn’t let a little thing like a global pandemic stop us celebrating together. However, we do have to be safe and responsible, so this year we WENT ONLINE for classes I to V.  Virtual sports day was spread over the week beginning from 22nd August 2020. This offered everyone the opportunity to take part whenever it was convenient for them. A qualifying round was sent to the students wherein, they have to complete the circuit training round in the given time. Students participated enthusiastically and we got overwhelming response in the preliminary round. Students were shortlisted on the basis of given criteria and the finalists entered into the Final Round. Different interesting challenges were waiting for them. A plethora of sports activities were sent to students which they could perform only using common household items. Demonstrative videos of teachers taking different challenges were also shared to encourage the children to participate. Siblings and family members were also encouraged to take part. Students of Middle wing were motivated to have indoor sports activities along with their parents and even grandparents. There was an excellent turn out across all year groups and it was fantastic to see so many people getting involved and take on the challenges. Principal DP Guleria congratulated all the students and teachers for this successful event. He also motivated the students by saying that winning or losing doesn’t matter, participation matters.

Ganesh Chaturthi with Eco-friendly Ganesh idols

With almost the whole world functioning virtually during coronavirus times, BCM School is leaving no stones unturned to reach their students and indulge them in constructive activities. Virtual celebration of Ganesh Chaturthi is another step in this direction. Students of BCM School, Chd, Road marked the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi by installing their Eco- friendly Ganesha. They ditched the Ganesha idols made of chemicals, plaster of Paris, plastic and thermocol and created their own Eco-friendly Ganesha Idol with natural biodegradable materials like clay, papier mache, flour and turmeric etc. and did their bit to save the environment. Students made these idols enthusiastically with devotion and passion. Videos enlightening the students about the significance of the festival and all the body parts of Lord Ganesha were also shared with the students. Principal D.P. Guleria praised the efforts of the students and said that it has been proved time again that old rituals of Indian culture are eco-friendly. He also stated that these kinds of activities strengthen cultural roots in students besides creativity.

Ravi House bagged first position in Virtual Inter House Dance Competition

School’s very first-of-its-kind Online Inter-House Dance Competition for students from class V was organized on the theme “Patriotism”. Around 100 students participated enthusiastically in the preliminary round. Children sent in their audition videos. Participants were shortlisted in a very fair way by talented judges. Shortlisted children from each House were given the stage to perform live virtually. It was breath - taking to see what our children are capable of; Their grace and poise were truly inspirational. Judgement was done on the basis of dancing skills, expressions and overall presentation. Arnav of Yamuna House and Diksha of Sutlej House bagged 1st position. Pankhuri of Ravi House and Sanvi of Sutlej House stood 2nd. Ananya of Ravi House and Ridhima of Yamuna House were at 3rd position. Vaishnavi of Ravi house got consolation prize. Students of Ravi house got maximum prizes and thus declared as the winner house.

74th INDEPENDENCE DAY JOLLIFICATIONS

Though the school is closed for students due to global pandemic Covid-19, the staff and students of BCM School Chandigarh Road exhibited unparalleled enthusiasm while celebrating 74th Independence Day. The Principal Mr. DP Guleria addressed the staff and students on virtual platform. He congratulated all on this auspicious occasion and paid homage to the brave warriors who sacrificed their personal interests and even lives for the country. He further said that we must remember the teachings of our great ancestors like Ram, Krishna, ChanakyaVivekanand. We should remember that the country achieved freedom after great sacrifices. This freedom should be guarded with all our might and never taken for granted. He congratulated the teachers for switching over to novel system of online teaching with such ease and in almost no time. While praising the new education policy initiated by the Govt., he said that it is the kind of education only that decides the future of a country. He reminded the teachers to be vigilant of their huge responsibility and be a role model for the students. 

The teachers organized a plethora of online activities wherein the students partook with great patriotic fervour. Dressed up in the colours of Tiranga, children from Grade I-V participated in “Being Static, Still Patriotic” progression on virtual platform and many other engaging activities like Poem recitation, dancing on patriotic songs, making Independence Day craft, role plays on life events of freedom fighters and assembling a delicious tricolour sandwich. Versatile and enthusiastic BCMites also added their unique inputs in articulation in the form of poems, slogans, jingles and dance. 

Students of classes VI-VIII created tri colour caps, painted tri colour t-shirts and dressed themselves in garb of freedom fighters. Every home became a shrine of ‘Maa Bharati’ as the students enunciated patriotic slogans, speeches and poems. Such was their enthusiasm that the entire virtual event seemed like happening in actuality.? Marching with heads held high, dancing hand in hand with peers, watching Tricolor unfurling proudly while singing national anthem in chorus became the treasured memories of this uniquely celebrated Independence Day. All prayed to almighty that soon the pandemic loses its grip over the world and once again the school campus is filled with cheerful presence of the students.

‘Sweeter than honey, tastier than curd, pleasanter indeed than any happiness and joy is the company, is the power of the name of Krishna’

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated by Students of BCM School, Chandigarh road with mirth and joy. While this religious importance is not lost, this day signifies a lot more to modern India. It indicates excitement, euphoria and a joyous spirit of enthrallment. To celebrate the extraordinary bond between man and the Almighty, students took the opportunity to participate in a plethora of online activities. BCMites from classes I to X participated in flute & poster decoration, crown making, poster decoration of Lord Krishna, Geeta Saar writing, rangoli making , mono acting, colourful Janki decorations etc. The spirit of festivity was enhanced with online bhajan competition in which students sang melodious bhajans and Navreet of VIII J stood first. The purpose of the flamboyant celebration was to inculcate value of sharing and respect in the students.

School Principal, D.P. Guleria blessed all the students on this auspicious day and gave them the message to look ahead instead of reminiscing in the past. His words truly summed up the efficacy of celebrating festivals of devotion and obedience towards their parents and teachers.

BLOGGING ACTIVITY BY BCMites ON RAKSHA BANDHAN

BCM School, Chandigarh Road continued their trend of celebrations by organising plethora of  activities on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 1,2020. About 1200 students participated in these activities with great gusto. Students of classes l to V contributed in the celebration by designing eco -friendly Rakhis and Shagun envelops. Students of middle wing demonstrated their creative expressions through the activity 'Rakhi Thali Decoration' and students of classes IX and X communicated their emotions of the festival through the activity -'A Letter to Doctors' in which they extended their gratitude to doctors for being in the front line of the battle against coronavirus pandemic. Later, all the letters were sent to the doctors through a link of BCM School blog.The principal, Mr. D.P Guleria applauded the students for their sincere efforts. These activities instilled in the students the values of love and solicitude.

BCM School, Chd. Road gleamed in CBSE Reading Month Competitions

As per the guidelines of CBSE, Students and teachers of BCM School, Chandigarh Road participated in CBSE Reading Month activities and competitions which was celebrated from June 19 to July 18. Lakhs of students from CBSE Schools around the nation participated in this. BCMites once again brought laurels to the school by winning commendable positions in different competitions. In Open Art Competition Divik Garg of class 2, Mahanya Garg of class 3 bagged 2nd prize whereas  Darshdeep Singh of Class 2 and Ridhima of class 5 got 3rd prize. In Quiz Competition for the students of classes 6 to 12, Vidhi Jain of class 8 got 3rd position. Not only the students but teachers of BCM School, Chandigarh Road also participated in Quiz Competition and Video making Competition. Ms. Madhu Sharma, PGT English got 2nd prize in Video Making competition for her video on the topic “Book that changed my life”. Her video was based on the book “Why Gandhi still matters: An Appraisal of the Mahatma’s Legacy”. Divik Garg and Mahanya Garg also secured their positions in Zone wise winners. Principal D.P. Guleria congratulated all the winners and acclaimed the efforts of the students and teachers. He also encouraged them to participate more in such competitions to make this time productive and fruitful.

Science Wiz kid II Middle wing II

 “Science is the process that takes us from confusion to understanding.”

Science is a subject which is completely focused on the facts and evidences concerning the natural and social world.  To encourage students to look beyond their textual knowledge and to establish a relationship between theory and application of the learnt concepts, Online Science Wiz Kid was conducted for the students of middle wing.  Students participated in it with great enthusiasm and vigour. The first round of quiz was conducted on July 18, 2020. Students scoring highest marks in first round were selected for the final round which was conducted on July 30, 2020.  Students who got top rank are Ananya Arora from VI G, Raghav Bhatia from VII E & Drish Malhotra  from class VIII-I.

We, Indians Sleep peacefully at our homes because our Army is guarding the frontiers. To salute the real heroes of the Nation and inspire the students for a patriotic cause, Kargil Victory Day was celebrated with aplomb. BCMites of classes IV to VIII participated in a plethora of activities ranging from bio-sketch writing to article writing, Patriotic Poem Recitation to singing patriotic songs. They depict moments of pride, courage and sacrifice shown by our Army Men in their presentations. They also pledged to serve the Nation in every possible manner.     School Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria  appreciated the efforts put in by the students. He urged the students to remember the sacrifice of the great martyrs made for our protection and remarked that we should not take our freedom for granted, rather should  strive every day to make India worthy of the invaluable sacrifice made by  the Kargil Heroes.
