BRITISH COUNCIL ACTIVITY- HEALTH IS WEALTH AND NOTHING IS SUPREME

The school conducted a  series of British council activities for class III from July 17- July 21, 2021,  on the theme " Communicable diseases .... Prevention and control" Taking the mission of awareness  ahead . Another activity SHOW AND TELL  was conducted in class  III .

Students enthusiastically participated in this activity .They showcased an item and described its importance in preventing diseases . Students shared glimpses of their efforts in online class of EVS by their catchy lines and also shared their view point on the items related to health and hygiene.

 Students gained knowledge about the personal hygiene and the importance of being healthy.

CBSE EXPRESSION SERIES

To celebrate 75th year of India’s Independence CBSE has announced Expression Series for the session 2021-22 on the theme India@75. In order to provide a platform to students to creatively express their ideas / views through (paintings/ paragraph),  on the topics- What can I do for my locality or the place where I live? Or The Things I love about my Country.,  circular for the same was sent to the students and they were asked to participate in it.  After shortlisting entries,  one best entry will be chosen and sent as per the given schedule.

CELEBRATION OF VAN MAHOTSAV

Plants are often called green lungs as they maintain the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. They play a vital role in maintaining ecological balance but there depletion has become a point of concern.. So to make students aware and instill a personal connection between students and nature, Van Mahotsav was celebrated in BCM school on July 17,2021.

ART AND CRAFT MELA ORGANIZED

From 3 to 7 July 2021, students of senior wing, BCM school organised an Art and Craft mela under the guidance of Mrs. Bhawna Saxena .A plethora of activities like paper lanterns, wind chimes, best out of waste, rangoli, painting on table mats and table clothes were organized .A new activity that is how to redesign your old shoes and bags diverted everybody's attention .Efforts done by Colour Voyage Club was appreciated by everybody.

 A video was compiled, which was shared with students and uploaded on school's FB page.

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY

God has given us the most precious gift that is human body our duty is to protect it by keeping our body healthy. Yoga is one such Lifestyle in which the overall thought of human life has been taken. BCMites celebrated this yoga day with great zeal. A 15 day long virtual Yoga camp was organized for the parents and students as directed by CBSE. On the 15th day, students started their day by doing asanas with their family. Later, they attempted quiz on mygov.in and Diksha platform.

SUMMER BONANZA

The much-awaited summer camp commenced from June 5th to June 19th. Students from class III to class VIII participated in this to upgrade their skill in different activities like sports, yoga, art, craft, music etc  with the help of expert teachers. They also got chance to apprise themselves with the new technology i.e. Artificial Intelligence. Some got chance to get acquainted with the tricks to crack Olympiads and others to exhibit their oratory skills in 3 languages. The camp engaged the children in activities that are enjoyable and also help them develop special techniques and skills.

CELEBRATION OF FATHER'S DAY

“Father is the guiding light whose love shows the way”

Father’s Day is a celebration honouring fathers and celebrating fatherhood, parental bonds and the role of fathers in shaping the lives of their children. They celebrated Father's Day, depicting their unending love and gratitude for their fathers. They sang melodious songs ‘All superheroes don’t wear capes’. They also spent some quality time with their father by watching movies and playing games. To make this day more special and show gratitude, they also made beautiful cards, badges, e-collages etc.

NATIONAL READING DAY

The school is celebrating Reading Month from June 19, 2021 to July 18, 2021 in memory of the father of the Library Movement PN Panicker. It also aims to promote reading habits among students. Amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the students and teachers are guided to participate in various activities like quiz, open art, essay writing etc. Students participated enthusiastically in the ‘reading day’ pledge in the first week of reading moth

World Environment Day is celebrated as an annual event to raise the importance of the healthy and green environment in human lives and to solve the issues of the environment by implementing some positive environmental actions. BCMites are always keen to keep their best foot forward in taking care of the environment. This time students came forward and made thought provoking posters to sensitize the masses about global warming and need of planting trees.

Celebration of International Dance Day 2021

BCM School, Chandigarh Road believes in encouraging its students to lead an enriching life by staying active during this difficult time of the COVID-19 outbreak and the school couldn’t be happier to receive warm support from the students to participate wholeheartedly. To build a healthy spirit of competition & team spirit amongst students, various events are organized all year round. To keep the spirits high and to build positivity in everyone’s life, during these times, on the occasion of International Dance Day Inter Class and Inter House Dance Competitions were conducted. Students of all the wings participated enthusiastically. Children sent in their videos to respective class in charges and House Mentors. Participants were shortlisted in a very fair way by talented Judges. Celebration of International Dance Day 2021

WORLD BOOK DAY CELEBRATED IN BCM School, Chandigarh Road

Every year on April 23, which is also the death anniversary of William Shakespeare, UNESCO celebrates World Book Day. To promote good reading habits and to engage students in reading, BCM School, Chandigarh Road celebrated World Book Day on virtual platform. The teachers explained the history and importance of the day, along with some tips, to maintain books and notebooks. To enhance the students’ interest in extra reading, DEAR activity was conducted for the students of Primary wing in which they read out moral based story books. In another activity “Dictionary Navigation”, students learnt to use the dictionary. Students of class VI & VII narrated value-based stories with the help of beautiful props. Students of class VIII presented presentations on the books read by them. A plethora of activities were organized for students of Senior and Senior Secondary wings. They participated in Book Talk, Book Mark Making, Interclass Reading Challenge and Poem Recitation Activities. Students also took pledge to enhance their love for reading and promote reading habits.  Principal Mr. D.P.Guleria appreciated the efforts of the students and said that reading books has great impact on a young person’s learning. World Heritage Day || PRIMARY WING ||

World Heritage Day gives us an opportunity to conserve and preserve our heritage and culture. To make students acquaint about our rich heritage and to promote the ethos of International Council of Monuments and Sites an Intra class Story/Facts telling Competition was organized for the students of Primary wing. In this virtual celebration students narrated stories/facts related to various heritage sites. Students participated enthusiastically and gathered information about different Heritage sites and shared during online class. It was a fruitful effort to hone the oratory skills of students as well as to motivate them to gain knowledge about our rich culture and heritage.

VIRTUAL CELEBRATION OF BAISAKHI AND AMBEDKAR JAYANTI || PRIMARY WING ||

Festivals are not just a great time to celebrate and enjoy but also an opportunity to acquaint our future generation with our diverse culture and relevance of important days. In the virtual celebration along with the Baisakhi fervor, students were also acquainted of the sacrifices made by our freedom fighters in Jallianwala Bagh, Amritsar through a PPT Show. Students of classes I to II delivered short speeches on the festival of Baisakhi. To mark the birth Anniversary of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the principal architect of the constitution of India, Intra Class Elocution was conducted for classes IV and V. Students spoke about our Fundamental Rights and Duties and Life History of Dr. B.R Ambedkar. The aim of all the activities were to make students aware about our history and culture and give them a chance to express themselves.

World Health Day 2021 has come at a time when the world is suffering with deadly virus Covid-19. Adequate nutrition is an important way to build up a more resilient immune system and thus help reduce the risk and impact of virus infections. To educate the students about the importance of healthy nutrition, students from classes I to V were asked to prepare and present some healthy food of their choice and also explain the nutritive value of the same during the online classes. Students participated enthusiastically by presenting different healthy food items such as Salads, Vegetable Sandwiches, Shakes etc. They learnt about the value of healthy food over junk food. Teachers motivated the students to have good food habits.

SEMINAR ON STRESS MANAGEMENT II MIDDLE WING II

Students have started coming to school and as the exams are approaching they are getting stressed. In order to cope up with the stress, the counselling cell of the school organised a seminar for the students of class VII on stress management. They were told about the various ways to  handle the stress that it should not hinder their performance.

She outshone the other participants and won the competition. Lohri, the harvest festival of Punjab, was celebrated with great fervour. Every year, a great number of birds get injured or killed because of chinese string which is used by many people for flying kites. Students of classes 6th and 7th wrote enthralling slogans against the use of Chinese string and made other children aware about its ill effects.

The main objective behind the celebration was to propagate the philosophy and the ideals of Swami Vivekananda and to promote rational thinking among the youth of the country. Keeping this in mind, a poetry and essay writing competition was organised for the students of classes VIII. School Counsellor Ms. Shreya Sarkar conducted a virtual session on ‘Swami Vivekanand’s Life and teaching of Youth’ for the students of Class VIII.

ANNUAL PRIZE DISTRIBUTION FUNCTION

The starting point of all achievement is desire. If one has the desire to succeed, one surely will. With this in mind and to boost the morale of the students,  BCM School Chandigarh Road  held its Virtual Annual Prize Distribution Ceremony. It was the time to applaud and reward the students for their sincere efforts for the academic session 2019-20. The school honoured all its achievers for having attained a sterling record in scholastic domain. Students of classes I to VIII were honoured for their outstanding achievements. The ceremony commenced by invoking God’s blessings followed by school song sung by the choir, yoga show and dance performance by the students.

The e-certificates were conferred upon the well deserving students. School Principal D.P.Guleria motivated the winners to go ahead to achieve their heart’s desire –whatever that may be. He went on to remind them to continue to uphold the values that are such an integral part of the institution. School Manager Dr. Prem Kumar appreciated the efforts put in by the students and the faculty for their overall performances and wished for them to come through with flying colours in future too.

It was indeed a proud moment not only for the recipients of the awards but also for their Parents who had been virtually invited to partake in the glory of their ward’s success.

ADOLESCENT SUMMIT

CBSE in association with Expression India organised 9th International Adolescent Summit on Life Skills, Health, Safety & School Wellbeing for classes 6th to 12th. During the course of the Summit, the students were engaged with participants from schools across the country and abroad in various events that would help foster a newer understanding of 21st century life skills, innovative programs for promoting values, gender sensitivity, health and wellbeing.

CELEBRATION OF GANIT WEEK II MIDDLE WING II

Mathematics is one of the essential emanations of the human spirit, a thing to be valued in and for itself - like art or poetry. Considering this, a week- long celebration of Ganit week commemorated from December 17, 2019 to December 22,2019. The celebration of ‘GANIT (Growing Aptitude in Numerical Innovations & Training) WEEK’ had a distinct flavour when hands came together, showcasing the diverse activities. To dispel Maths phobia and create a love for the subject, young learners were shown various ppts. The week started with special ppt of Vedic Maths (Ancient Mathematics), where techniques were taught to students to enable them to advance their aptitude potential and confidence. They were also made aware about the life history of great mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan through ppt presentation. They were also made aware about the usage of mathematics in daily life. Students participated in large numbers, displaying spirited enthusiasm, absorbing information and enjoying the stimulating exercise of the mind in Model Making on the topic ‘Fun with Shapes’

Human Rights Day is observed every year on 10 December — the day the United Nations General Assembly adopted, in 1948, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). The UDHR is a milestone document that proclaims the inalienable rights which everyone is entitled to as a human being - regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status. Keeping this in mind, a webinar was conducted for the students of class VIII in which they were made aware about rights & duties given to each citizen in constitution of India.

ARMED FORCES FLAG DAY II MIDDLE WING II

The Armed Forces Flag Day or the Flag Day of India is a day dedicated to India towards armed forces of India. It has been observed annually in India on December 7 since 1949. Over the years, it has become a tradition to commemorate this day as an honour to the soldiers, sailors and airmen of India. Keeping this in mind, A webinar was conducted for the students of Class VIII in which they were sensitized about dedication and hardship of different armed forces. The way they safeguard the whole nation at borders. They were also made aware about the career options in Armed Forces.

LSSC STORY TELLING COMPETITION

Stories are never–ending journeys, hidden talents or suppressed memories, all waiting to be told. LSSC Online Story Telling Competition for the students of class III to V was organized by Bhartiya Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Kitchlu Nagar, Ludhiana on 21st November, 2020. Aditi Bagga of class V and Rhythm of class IV outshone the other participants and brought laurels to the school. Aditi bagged first position in English Story Telling and Rhythm secured second position in Hindi Story Telling.

KAMP-NASTA (Knowledge and Awareness Mapping Platform)

An initiative of CSIR-NISTADS was held on 27th and 28th of January and was widely accepted by schools across the country. It was supported by the prestigious education boards of the country including CBSE, State Board of Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, also in all Kendriya Vidhalaya’s, Jawahar Navodaya Vidhalaya’s under MHRD. KAMP was able to identify and recognize 12 National Toppers, 178 State toppers and 824 District toppers from different parts of India. Aditi Sharma and Raghav Bhatia are presented with “Medal of Excellence” for achieving the remarkable feat as “DISTRICT TOPPER”.

COMPUTER CARNIVAL 2020

Sacred Heart Convent School organized LSSC Computer Carnival 2020, A two day long event in which 18 schools from Ludhiana participated in various competitions. Nancy Katiyar of Class VIII A participated in cyber caption ( poster making in MS Word) and bagged 1st position, Aaradhya Jain of Class VI D bagged 2nd position in  Cyber view (Declamation Contest) and Jay Jain of Class IV bagged 3rd position in Cyber Splendour (poster making in MS Paint).

Commemoration of Book Week II Primary & Middle wingII

Books are the gateway between the past and present or future. To celebrate the joy of reading books, a plethora of activities were organized for BCMites during a week-long celebration commencing from November 17 to November 23. First, the teachers explained to students the importance of books and the role played by books in one’s life in their online class. Later on, the students participated in various activities like book cover and bookmark. They also narrated inspirational stories with gestures. They read books and later on wrote book reviews of the same.

In an endeavour to provide activity based integrated learning environment, LSSC Bitbytes- a mega event was organised by Bal Bharti Pubic School. BCMites participated in this mega event with great enthusiasm and brought laurels to school. Navrit Kaur of Class XII bagged 1st position in Objet d’ Art  painting competition, Raghav of Class XII commerce got 2nd position in E-communique ppt making competition, Saksham of class XII commerce got third position & Devansh of VI B bagged 2nd position in Nick wid Pic- A photography Competition
