Class XII aspirants of the BCM School, Chandigarh Road attended the sacred Havan Ceremony in Mahatma Satyanand Munjal Activity Block. The students accompanied by their respective class teachers poured holy offerings into sanctified fire amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and sought blessings of almighty for the forthcoming second term board examinations. Divine melodies sung by the school choir raised the energy level even higher. The section coordinators and teachers showered their blessings with flower petals upon the students.
The School Principal, Mr. D.P.Guleria, motivated the students to have faith in God’s plans for them, their own abilities and make the best use of their potentials for welfare of all. Mr. Principal also hoped that the students would come true to the expectations of their parents and the school. He also shared some valuable tips with the students that can help them stay stress free & well prepared during exams. The ceremony concluded with distribution of Prasad to all.

Literary Week is an exciting annual feature on our school calendar. It aims at infusing in the children across the classes, an appreciation, understanding and love for literature. BCM School, Chd. Road observed Literary Week with much aplomb in its various genres from 18 to 23 April 2022. A week-long celebration of literary week concluded in with remembrance of great poet and author William Shakespeare on his birth anniversary on April 23. The whole week was denoted to improve the literary skills of students in all the classes. A plethora of activities was organized by literary club in order to provide a great opportunity to students to showcase their talent in various skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening in the languages with appreciation and love for the language. Students participated in an array of activities like Reading Challenge, Oration of Favourite Story, Word Chain, Dictionary Navigation, Vocabulary Tools, DEAR activity, Spell Check, Book Mark Making, Story Web, Acrostic Poem Writing Extempore Biography writing etc. Students were made aware about the life history of the bard of Avon, William Shakespeare. A video show on the famous drama of William Shakespeare “The Merchant of Venice” was arranged for the students. The week-long literature carnival thus came to a successful end. It was a week filled with flurry and excitement. A veritable celebration of literature, the Literary Week at School was indeed a week well spent in ‘edutainment’.
BCM School celebrated Earth Day
Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd April at BCM School, Chd. Road to remind the students of their duties towards ‘Mother Nature.’ As a part of environmental education, "Go- Green" and “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” initiatives were taken to engage the whole school community in making a difference. Earth Day was celebrated through educational and action-oriented activities organized by Eco Club. Students celebrated the power of green by singing mellifluous songs in the morning assembly. Students expressed their views by making short speeches in both English and Hindi. The school campus buzzed with different activities like Poem Recitation, Poster Making, Mask Making, Reusable Bags Making, Transforming Trash into Treasure, Video Presentation and Bird Feeder Making. In an Inter House Poster Making Competition for the students of class IV and V students prepared thought provoking posters showcasing Environmental challenges. Sutlej House bagged first position. Students of class I to III recited beautiful poems and expressed their concern for our ailing planet. All the students participated in these activities with full exuberance.
"World Heritage Day was celebrated in school on 18th April, 2022. The aim of celebrating the day was to spread awareness about the importance of the cultural heritage & its preservation. In Morning Assembly Special assembly students were made aware about the day. Teachers explained the students the meaning and importance of rich cultural heritage and advised them to preserve & conserve our legacy.
They also motivated the students and told them to feel proud to be Indian and mentioned that inspite of diversities , we are one and we must respect our culture. A collage making competition on the theme "Rich Culture and Heritage of India" was conducted for the students of class IV and V. As per "Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat" an initiative taken by CBSE, every State and UT in the country has been paired with another State and UT. Punjab is paired with Andhra Pradesh. To make the students aware about the official language of Andhra Pradesh, class in-charges helped the students to learn alphabets of Telugu language. Later on they were made to speak and learn those alphabets in the language of paired state. Students participated in the activity enthusiastically and enjoyed learning alphabets of Telugu.

BCMites celebrated Baisakhi with great vehemence and euphoria by organising Talent Hunt' competition for classes IX and X which embraced an array of activities like Pamphlet making, Bhangra, Giddha, Singing, Video Making etc. Around 200 students gave exposure to their talent by associating themselves with this competition exuberantly. The motive of the competition was to provide budding talents a platform to exhibit their skills and also to apprise the children of our rich culture and heritage. The competition helped to imbibe in our students the values and ethos of community and culture .
To mark the auspicious occasions of Baisakhi and Ambedkar jayanti a plethora of activities was conducted for the students of classes I to V. Students recited Punjabi folk songs related to the harvest festival of Baisakhi and also showcased the talent in Punjabi dance bhangra. Students of class IV & V were made aware about the life history of the father of Indian constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and also about our fundamental rights and duties as per the Indian constitution. An Orientation Programme was organized for the parents of class I. The Orientation Programme in which around 600 parents were present began with the motive to achieve shared responsibility for the overall development of children. In this programme the parents were acquainted with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies, co scholastic activities, new innovative practices and initiatives taken by the school this year. Few tips on good parenting were also shared by school counsellor and queries of the parents were resolved in the programme.
Principal, Mr D.P. Guleria addressed the parents and laid emphasis on a strong connection with the school patrons. He even sought support and suggestions from the parents to provide best education and growth opportunities to the children of the school. The Orientation Programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in evolving common teaching strategy and helped the parents in identifying suitable follow up methods to reinforce the learning process of their children. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem.

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 every year to mark the anniversary of WHO. To mark the significance of the day and to create awareness about healthy food and lifestyle, students form class I to XII participated in different activities like Awareness Session, Mindful Meditation, Speech, Chart making etc. Students were asked to bring healthy tiffin and also discuss the nutritive value of the food they had brought with other classmates. Students were also made aware about the importance of Healthy food and healthy and hygienic habits.

6th April 2022, Prof. Julian Beer Deputy Vice Chancellor Birmingham City University and Mr. Bernard Curren Birmingham City University Uk had a visit to BCM School Chandigarh Road to inaugurate the prestigious innovation and tinkering lab of the school. The momentous occasion was also marked with the presence of Mr. S.K.Rai, Dr. Prem Kumar , Manager BCM Schools, Principals of BCM Schools and BCM College of Education. The delegation of elite guests was given a grand welcome by the NCC cadets and the school band.
The guests were all praise to see the IAT Lab and activities being conducted on the school campus. BCM TINKERING LAB: A HAVEN OF LEARNING
14 Feb., Teachers and students of BCM School Chandigarh Road tried their hands on a variety of equipment and devices in the school’s prestigious BCM Tinkering Lab. The lab offers an opportunity to the students to gain knowledge about robotics, electronics and electricals, aero spacing, mechanical and safety equipment.
Mrs. Vandana Sahi Principal BCM School Dugri along with one of her teachers was also present while they all learnt about the modus operandi of four levels of the lab namely – Pre thinkers, Tinker Club, Tinker Lab and Post tinker lab. The attendees were briefed about the objective of the levels and how to achieve these levels.
The Principal Mr. DP Guleria encouraged the students and teachers to utilize this platform given by the school to tinker their minds with novel innovative ideas. He said that the objective of establishing this lab is to foster curiosity, creativity, and imagination in young minds; and inculcate skills such as design mind-set, computational thinking, adaptive learning, physical computing etc. He motivated all that by confronting problems in the lab they can also solve real world problems faced in life.
BCM TINKERING LAB: A HAVEN OF LEARNING
BCM SCHOOL CHANDIGARH ROAD today organized a mega vaccination camp on the campus for protection against COVID-19, for the students in the age group of 15-18 years.
The camp was organized in collaboration with the District Health Department, under which a 6 member team carried out the vaccination drive. Apart from the students, the parents of the students who had their second dose due also became the beneficiaries of this camp. Approximately 350 students from classes IX to XII got vaccinated along with a good number of parents and guardians.
Principal Mr. DP GULERIA expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the team of District Health Department , Ludhiana and the parents and the guardians who as responsible citizens came forward to make this camp a great success.
The 73rd Republic Day celebrations were held in the school campus with great spirit and enthusiasm by following all the Covid 19 protocols. Principal D P Guleria and Dr. Prem Kumar, Manager BCM Schools unfurled the National Flag, while section coordinators and few members of support staff were present on the occasion. The day was celebrated virtually by engaging students in various activities and enlightening them about the Constitution of India and the rights & duties of its citizens. In addition to sharing knowledge on the significance of the day, A documentary was shared with the students highlighting the bravery of Unsung Heroes of our Nation. As a part of the celebration ‘Know India Quiz’ was also organized to generate awareness among the students from an early age. Students of class 1 to 3 were involved in Drawing and Coloring of Tri Color and National Symbols. Students of class 4 sang melodious patriotic songs during an inter section singing competition. An Inter section dance competition was organized for students of class 5. Participants tapped to the tunes of patriotic songs and thrilled the audience with their exhilarating performances. Republic Day is an important day for all Indians and celebrating it with pomp and fervour sensitizes students about the importance of this day and helps them to grow as aware and responsible citizens of the country.

Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose's birthday or “Netaji Jayanti” is celebrated in the light of patriotism and a breeze of love for country on 23rd January. To instill dedication, sincerity and fighting spirit in the students and to honour and remember Netaji’s indomitable spirit and selfless service to the nation the day was celebrated virtually. Students of class I-V were enlightened about the life of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose through a PPT Show during online classes. Azad Hind Fauj song was also played which brought with it a saga of love for nation and feeling of Unity Students of class IV penned down the life history of Netaji in an Inter section Bio sketch writing competition and students of class V made portraits of this great leader expressing the valor of the brave soldier and torch bearer of India.
Celebration of Subhash Chandra Bose Jayanti
Festivals help to spread good cheer and are welcomed by one and all. Lohri which is the first festival of the year and celebrated on 13th January, bids adieu to the winters and welcomes the spring season with a lot of cheer. The festive mood was upbeat and the students of primary Wing immersed in the festive spirit with virtual Lohri celebrations. They were made aware of the significance of the festival. Interesting facts revealing the scientific, mythological and regional outlook of the festival were explained to students. Thereafter students of class 1 and 2 sang the lohri folk songs during the online classes. Students of class 3 to 5 participated in funfilled activity in which they prepared tri colour kites. An inter section Bhangra and Giddha competition was organized for the students of class 5. The children danced to foot tapping Punjabi Music to the fullest. On this pious occasion Principal alongwith some staff members and support staff gathered in the school play field where a bonfire was lit. Everyone came forward to take the blessings of the holy bonfire and prayed for the well-being of all. The melodies of the lohri song “Sunder Mundariye” filled the air of the campus with festivity. Folk songs were played to make the mood and soon everybody joined in the energetic rhythm! Overall, it was a fun filled day for everyone.

Ramanujan Fest 2021
A weeklong celebration of GANIT (Growing aptitude in numerical innovations and training) week culminated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road on December 21, 2021. A series of hands on activities was organized for the students of classes I to VIII during this week. The concluding day began with a heartfelt tribute to the great Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. Students were informed about the life history of Dr. Ramanujan through a Speech and PPT. An interactive session on Vedic Math was organized for the students of class VI to VIII. Students participated in a plethora of activities like Multiplication Flower, Fun with Calendar and Clock on paper plate, Drawing of angles using matchsticks, Rubric Cube etc. Students of class IV penned down life history of Dr. Ramanujan also. An Inter House Math Quiz was also conducted in which Beas House emerged as a winner. The whole event was highly productive and helped students develop interest, analytical abilities, concentration & co-ordination in challenging situations.
GANIT WEEK CELEBRATION
Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon that affects all countries. It is a serious crime that can undermine social and economic development in all societies. December 9 is designated as International Anti-Corruption Day by United Nations. To raise awareness about this evil among the students, a “Comic Strip Making Competition” on the theme “Your Right –Your Role: Say no to Corruption”- and a “Hasya Kavita Gayan activity on the theme “Bhrashtachaar ka Badhta Prakop” was organized in classes V and IV respectively. Students of class V depicted prevailing issue of corruption in every walk of society through their humorous but thought provoking Comic Strips. Geet Kaur of V G and Niyati of V D bagged 1st position. Kanwalnoor of V G and Shivam of V F stood 2nd and Kanika of V A stood 3rd. Students of class IV recited entertaining poems raising issue of corruption.

As a part of Swadesh Manthan Project started by our school, an Inter Class Display Board decoration competition was organised in the Primary Wing. All the sections decorated their boards as per the state allotted to them. The class display boards were adorned with the vibrant hues of different states of our country. Through this activity students learnt about the culture, food, geographic and climatic conditions of different states.

Students made posters of brave soldiers of Indian Armed Forces. The best Poster made by Manmeet kaur of VIII C was uploaded on mygov.in portal for the main round.

As a part of Book Week Activities, Semi-final round of an Inter House Story Telling competition was conducted. Semi Final round was organized by the House mentors and one best student was selected for the final round which was conducted on Nov 24, 2021. Students participated with full zeal and fervor. Best story narrators were declared as the winners . Beas house emerged as overall winner house.

Jesus Sacred Heart Convent School organised GS Memorial annual Kids festival. Students of middle wing participated in various events and brought laurels also. Gitanshi Grover and Manya Kwatra participated in Barrel of Laugh. They bagged 2nd runnerup. Vanshika, Jassmeet, Labdhi, Harseerat, Nandini and Sneha of VII B participated in Role Play on Healing Earth. They also bagged 2nd runner up. Overall, our school bagged first runner up position.

EAT RIGHT CREATIVITY CHALLENGE
Books are the gateway between the past and present or future. To celebrate the joy of reading books, a plethora of activities were organized for BCMites during a week-long celebration commencing from November 20 to November 24,2021 for students of classes I to V. Students had a joy of reading books of their interest available in their homes or in the school during zero period in- “DEAR” activity. They also prepared Bookmarks and Book Covers during zero period. On the concluding day, students were asked to pen down book review of any book of their interest. Students participated enthusiastically in all the reading week activities and they were motivated to make reading a habitual routine of their life.

To celebrate the birth anniversary of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji a ‘Shabad Gayan Competition’ and Sakhi Narration Comp. was conducted for classes IV and V. Teachers also shared teachings of Shri Guru Nanak Devji in their respective classes. For ‘Shabad Gyan and Sakhi Narration Competition’ a semi final round was conducted by the class incharges. One student from each section of IV and V was selected for the final round. Students participated in both the activities enthusiastically.

The Wild Wisdom Global Challenge is an attempt to provide a unique opportunity for students to delve deeper into amazing wildlife, gain knowledge and take pride in its natural diversity. Team of two students comprising Rupashi of VII E and Mohit of IX D participated in it. Our school ranked 4th in the Quiz. They have cleared the National Level Round and now eligible for International Level round which will held on December 2, 2021
