To infuse the idea of enthusiasm in the young minds, BCM SCHOOL organized an Inter-Class Origami dresses Making Competition for the students of XI Arts on 26th July 2022.
This fun-filled activity unleashed their creativity on paper a message to learn and follow. The students worked enthusiastically and experimented with different ideas to flaunt their artistic imagination. They created dresses using innovative ideas to make them look more interesting. Such activities teach students the most valuable lessons of life in relatively less time and at the same time keeps their competitive spirits high.

On July 26 in the year 1999, the world witnessed bravery of Indian Army when we conquered the Kargil war. To celebrate this victory Kargil Vijay Diwas is celebrated all across the country. To make students aware of such a glorious day and to pay tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of our mother land, different activities were conducted. Teachers explained the importance of the day to the students. In class IV a Bio Sketch writing competition was organized. Students penned down short biographies of Kargil war heroes. Students of class V saluted Indian army by making beautiful greeting cards.

With an objective of pay tribute to our Kargil warriors and to enhance oratory skills of students ,the school organised inter-house story telling competition for the students of class 11 and 12 in which participants recalled the stories and anecdotes of these heroes.

MOCK PARLIAMENT SESSION
21 July, 2022, In a National Youth Parliament Session organised in O P Munjal Conference Hall; the students of Classes XI-XII had heated debates over the burning issue before the nation i.e. AGNEEPATH – recruitment of Agniveers in armed forces.
The session was organized by BCM School, Chandigarh Road as per the guidelines of the Ministry of Parliament Affairs. It was a highly beneficial parliamentary session wherein the participants had enthusiastic discussions. Garbed as leaders of different political parties, students put forward their opinions which eventually culminated into resolutions.
The Principal Mr. DP Guleria declared the session open and while addressing the students motivated them to be aware, concerned and responsible citizens of the nation. He said, “Young Class XII aspirants can now play a crucial role in building an Aatma Nirbhar, Saksham Bharat and fulfil their dream of joining the Armed Forces & serving the Nation through Agnipath scheme.”
The worthy jury members and guest speakers – Prabhleen Singh (alumni), Sagar Sareen (alumni), Samridhi Kapila, Ishika and Vishwas Vaid appreciated the participants for their teamwork, oratory skills and discipline.
The winners of the Mock Youth Parliament Aishmeen Rai, Raghav, Nandini, Kashish, Samridhi, Gonika, Deepika, Raunit, Taranveer, Purvi, Jaskirat, Sachleen were honoured with the prizes and titles of best parliamentarian, the best speaker, the high commendations, special mention, verbal mention etc.
The session was formally announced closed by the Principal and concluded with the national anthem.
MOCK PARLIAMENT SESSION
In order to bring awareness among the future generation about the importance and usefulness of forests a power point presentation on “Forest- Nature’s Biggest Treasure” was conducted as a part of British Council International activities. The objective of the activity was to acquaint the students with different types of forests found in India, Nigeria and USA, their importance and conservation. Not only this, but it would also generate the sense of gratitude towards nature. Students learnt about the spread and types of forests in India, Nigeria and USA. They also came to know about global ways to conserve forests.

As part of the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM), the theme for the student-Enrichment activities for the academic session 2022-23 is Vision for India @2047. In this context, CBSE announced Expression Series on ‘Yoga for Fitness’. The first level Expression Series was organized from 15 July 2022 to 25 July 2022 for students of classes IV & V. One best poster by Gurnoor Singh Bains of V B was selected and submitted as per the instructions.

Van Mahotsav is an annual tree plantation festival celebrated in India when millions of trees are planted. The celebration of Van Mahotsav at BCM School is an ideal opportunity to insill personal and social responsibility in students towards safeguardinng trees and forests. Eco Club planned various activities to celebrate the day. Students of class I to III panted saplings in waste containers and learnt the importance of best out of waste. An inter section Slogan Writing Competition was conducted for the students of class IV on the theme “Save Trees”. Students of class V enacted as Immunity Booster plants and made the students aware about the benefits of these plants. Student Council participated in a plantation drive and planted saplings in the school campus.

Following the guidelines of Ministry of Aayush, BCM School, Chandigarh Road celebrated yoga day with great enthusiasm on June 21, 2022. The theme for this year's yoga day is "Yoga For Humanity'. The school organized a mass yoga session in the morning which was attended by a large number of students, parents, teaching and non-teaching staff members. Various asanas were followed by omkar chanting. Warm-up exercises, sitting and standing asanas were performed by all. Yoga which helps in improving concentration and in attaining inner peace has been a regular feature of BCM Curriculum. Later at 9:30am the school organized an expert lecture on the significance of Yoga by the keynote speaker Mr Kundan Virmaani, Punjab President, Bhartiya Yog Sansthan, Mr. Kundan Virmani addressed the teachers and motivated them to adopt yoga in life to stay healthy and fit. He said that in the modern world most of the people are suffering from diseases due to unhealthy diet and sedentary lifestyle. Rising early before sunrise, doing some walk /yoga and monitoring our diet are the ways we all should follow for a disease-free life. Not only this, yoga helps in memory boost and overall personality development. The principal of the school Mr DP Guleria appreciated the efforts of the organizing teams and opined that yoga helps a person improve life physically, mentally and spiritually. The session ended with queries of the teacher being attended by the resource person. The event helped to feel confident and content physically, mentally and spiritually.

Children celebrated this “daddy day” with great cheer. They were involved in fun filled activities on this occasion like Scribbling mug, Making Greeting Cards, Hangings and Goodies bag, spending time with fathers and playing games with him. They expressed their love for their hero- their dad through these activities. They presented their creations to their fathers as a gesture of reverence for love.

World Environment Day is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness among students to save our planet. Students participated in various activities like Plant a Sapling, Slogan Writing, Poster Making etc. Students were motivated to plant more and more trees to make our mother Earth full of greenery.

BCM School Chd. Rd. celebrated 105th birth anniversary of philanthropist industrialist and Co-founder of BCM Foundation Mahatma Satyanand Ji Munjal. Students attended the auspicious hawan ceremony and took pledge to follow the ten golden Rules of Arya Samaj. They remembered the great visionary in the celebration that started by planting a sapling in the loving memory of Mahatma Ji. School Principal D P Guleria along with other dignitaries paid homage to the reverend Mahatma Ji. Students of various classes sang melodious bhajans and recited hawan mantras. Principal D P Guleria quoted that Mahatma Ji’s life is an inspiration for many of us. We are grateful to Mahatma Ji for his principles and we promise that we will not leave any stone unturned to take our school to the zenith of success.” School manager Dr. Prem Kumar paid tribute to Mahatma Ji by saying that Mahtama Satyanand Ji has always been his torch bearer as he believed that Education is the most powerful instrument to reduce social and economic biases. Teachers from various sections also remembered Mahatma Ji and how they idolise the Nobel soul and try to implement his teachings in letter and spirit. They also paid heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Ji by sharing his inspirational life events. Apart from this, students eulogised the reverend Bauji by taking part in plethora of activities viz. cards making, collage making and quote and slogan writing. Students of art club made portraits and wrote his biography to acquaint the young minds. Students of the senior section participated in discussion on his teachings and also learnt about his life and philanthropic vision.

Biodiversity is the living fabric of our planet. It underpins human well-being in the present and in the future, and its rapid decline threatens nature and people alike. On 22 May, we celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, to raise awareness of the vital importance of preserving biodiversity. To acquaint the students with the importance of Biological diversity of our planet Eco Club organized different activities. Students of class I participated in a Show and Tell activity in which they highlighted the importance of Flora and Fauna through role play and enactment. Class II & III students participated in an Inter Section Best out of Waste competition wherein students showcased their creativity and highlighted the importance of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Class IV students prepared collages showcasing bio-diversity of the planet. Class V Students explained about the extinct species through beautiful *Power Point Presentations.

Ek Bharat shreshth Bharat and initiative taken by CBSE, aims to enhance interaction and promote mutual understanding between people of different states UTs through the concept of states/ UTs pairing. In the same direction Punjab is paired with Andhra Pradesh to acquaint the students about the state of Andhra Pradesh an elocution was conducted for the students of class 5 where they shared some interesting facts about Andhra Pradesh very confidently in front of the audience. They used charts and different gestures to express their knowledge and understanding about the state. Yuvraj Narang of 5th H stood first Aditi of 5th I and Aaradhya of 5th G bagged second and third position respectively.

BCM School extended their hand to acknowledge and commemorate National Technology day by organising array of activities under Digital literacy week Students of senior wing organized awareness session on Technology for students of Primary wing where they shared tips regarding digital citizenship. Students of secondary wing gave expression to their thoughts on this day through Brochure making, Logo design and role play. Dance is a form of expression, a way of speaking one’s mind through music. As the soul connects through dance in an instant, the importance of various dance forms over the world is overwhelming. It not only gives you an opportunity to express your thoughts and feelings, but also keeps you physically fit and sound for life. Also known as International Dance Day, World Dance Day was celebrated at BCM School, Chd. Road with much anticipation and zeal. Students of grades 1 to 3 participated in an Inter section Dance Competition whereas students of class 4 and 5 competed in an Inter House Competition. Continuing with the colourful and musical celebrations, Students set the stage on fire with their scintillating performances, which included different international dance forms like Jumba, Salsa, Hip-hop etc. This was an effort to make the students aware of the diverse dance forms prevalent across the world.

30th April, 2022: To celebrate the painstaking effort of the labour force, that work tirelessly, the International Worker’s Day also called as Labour Day, which is marked on May 1 worldwide was celebrated at BCM School, Chd. Road with great zeal. Students of class I to III celebrated the Labour Day by participating in a Role Play activity in which they enacted as community helpers and understood their importance in our day-to-day life. Students of class IV & V prepared thought provoking posters on the theme “Stop Child Labour”. The children expressed gratitude to the support staff by giving self-made badges, cards and flowers to them in the school and also to different other community helpers like helper in the bus, peon, guard etc. The young ones were overwhelmed by this act of thankfulness and enjoyed the day. The teachers briefed the children about Labour Day and its importance and also motivated them to respect any kind of labour. They were further guided to show their gratitude towards the community helpers in their respective locality. The activities were designed to forge a better understanding of the labour community among our students who must learn to respect and appreciate their efforts. Overall, it was a fruitful day which taught our students to be thankful to everyone.
CELEBRATION OF LABOUR DAY
Class XII aspirants of the BCM School, Chandigarh Road attended the sacred Havan Ceremony in Mahatma Satyanand Munjal Activity Block. The students accompanied by their respective class teachers poured holy offerings into sanctified fire amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras and sought blessings of almighty for the forthcoming second term board examinations. Divine melodies sung by the school choir raised the energy level even higher. The section coordinators and teachers showered their blessings with flower petals upon the students.
The School Principal, Mr. D.P.Guleria, motivated the students to have faith in God’s plans for them, their own abilities and make the best use of their potentials for welfare of all. Mr. Principal also hoped that the students would come true to the expectations of their parents and the school. He also shared some valuable tips with the students that can help them stay stress free & well prepared during exams. The ceremony concluded with distribution of Prasad to all.

Literary Week is an exciting annual feature on our school calendar. It aims at infusing in the children across the classes, an appreciation, understanding and love for literature. BCM School, Chd. Road observed Literary Week with much aplomb in its various genres from 18 to 23 April 2022. A week-long celebration of literary week concluded in with remembrance of great poet and author William Shakespeare on his birth anniversary on April 23. The whole week was denoted to improve the literary skills of students in all the classes. A plethora of activities was organized by literary club in order to provide a great opportunity to students to showcase their talent in various skills of reading, writing, speaking, listening in the languages with appreciation and love for the language. Students participated in an array of activities like Reading Challenge, Oration of Favourite Story, Word Chain, Dictionary Navigation, Vocabulary Tools, DEAR activity, Spell Check, Book Mark Making, Story Web, Acrostic Poem Writing Extempore Biography writing etc. Students were made aware about the life history of the bard of Avon, William Shakespeare. A video show on the famous drama of William Shakespeare “The Merchant of Venice” was arranged for the students. The week-long literature carnival thus came to a successful end. It was a week filled with flurry and excitement. A veritable celebration of literature, the Literary Week at School was indeed a week well spent in ‘edutainment’.
BCM School celebrated Earth Day
Every year, Earth Day is celebrated on 22nd April at BCM School, Chd. Road to remind the students of their duties towards ‘Mother Nature.’ As a part of environmental education, "Go- Green" and “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” initiatives were taken to engage the whole school community in making a difference. Earth Day was celebrated through educational and action-oriented activities organized by Eco Club. Students celebrated the power of green by singing mellifluous songs in the morning assembly. Students expressed their views by making short speeches in both English and Hindi. The school campus buzzed with different activities like Poem Recitation, Poster Making, Mask Making, Reusable Bags Making, Transforming Trash into Treasure, Video Presentation and Bird Feeder Making. In an Inter House Poster Making Competition for the students of class IV and V students prepared thought provoking posters showcasing Environmental challenges. Sutlej House bagged first position. Students of class I to III recited beautiful poems and expressed their concern for our ailing planet. All the students participated in these activities with full exuberance.
"World Heritage Day was celebrated in school on 18th April, 2022. The aim of celebrating the day was to spread awareness about the importance of the cultural heritage & its preservation. In Morning Assembly Special assembly students were made aware about the day. Teachers explained the students the meaning and importance of rich cultural heritage and advised them to preserve & conserve our legacy.
They also motivated the students and told them to feel proud to be Indian and mentioned that inspite of diversities , we are one and we must respect our culture. A collage making competition on the theme "Rich Culture and Heritage of India" was conducted for the students of class IV and V. Students made beautiful collages depicting the vibrant and diverse culture of our country. The winners are as follows.

As per "Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat" an initiative taken by CBSE, every State and UT in the country has been paired with another State and UT. Punjab is paired with Andhra Pradesh. To make the students aware about the official language of Andhra Pradesh, class in-charges helped the students to learn alphabets of Telugu language. Later on they were made to speak and learn those alphabets in the language of paired state. Students participated in the activity enthusiastically and enjoyed learning alphabets of Telugu.

BCMites celebrated Baisakhi with great vehemence and euphoria by organising Talent Hunt' competition for classes IX and X which embraced an array of activities like Pamphlet making, Bhangra, Giddha, Singing, Video Making etc. Around 200 students gave exposure to their talent by associating themselves with this competition exuberantly. The motive of the competition was to provide budding talents a platform to exhibit their skills and also to apprise the children of our rich culture and heritage. The competition helped to imbibe in our students the values and ethos of community and culture .
To mark the auspicious occasions of Baisakhi and Ambedkar jayanti a plethora of activities was conducted for the students of classes I to V. Students recited Punjabi folk songs related to the harvest festival of Baisakhi and also showcased the talent in Punjabi dance bhangra. Students of class IV & V were made aware about the life history of the father of Indian constitution Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar and also about our fundamental rights and duties as per the Indian constitution. Students also participated in an inter section "3D Baisakhi scene" making competition. The results are as follows.

An Orientation Programme was organized for the parents of class I. The Orientation Programme in which around 600 parents were present began with the motive to achieve shared responsibility for the overall development of children. In this programme the parents were acquainted with the curriculum, rules and regulations of the school, teaching methodologies, co scholastic activities, new innovative practices and initiatives taken by the school this year. Few tips on good parenting were also shared by school counsellor and queries of the parents were resolved in the programme.
Principal, Mr D.P. Guleria addressed the parents and laid emphasis on a strong connection with the school patrons. He even sought support and suggestions from the parents to provide best education and growth opportunities to the children of the school. The Orientation Programme proved to be a sincere effort made by the school in evolving common teaching strategy and helped the parents in identifying suitable follow up methods to reinforce the learning process of their children. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks followed by the National Anthem.

World Health Day is celebrated on April 7 every year to mark the anniversary of WHO. To mark the significance of the day and to create awareness about healthy food and lifestyle, students form class I to XII participated in different activities like Awareness Session, Mindful Meditation, Speech, Chart making etc. Students were asked to bring healthy tiffin and also discuss the nutritive value of the food they had brought with other classmates. Students were also made aware about the importance of Healthy food and healthy and hygienic habits.
CELEBRATION OF WORLD HEALTH DAY
6th April 2022, Prof. Julian Beer Deputy Vice Chancellor Birmingham City University and Mr. Bernard Curren Birmingham City University Uk had a visit to BCM School Chandigarh Road to inaugurate the prestigious innovation and tinkering lab of the school. The momentous occasion was also marked with the presence of Mr. S.K.Rai, Dr. Prem Kumar , Manager BCM Schools, Principals of BCM Schools and BCM College of Education. The delegation of elite guests was given a grand welcome by the NCC cadets and the school band.
The guests were all praise to see the IAT Lab and activities being conducted on the school campus. Enriched with a variety of equipment and devices, the lab offers an opportunity to the students to gain knowledge about robotics, electronics and electricals, aero spacing, mechanical and safety equipment.
