BCM School, Chandigarh Road organized a sacred Havan Ceremony in the school premises. The students of Class Tenth along with their teachers poured holy offerings into sanctified fire amidst the chanting of Vedic mantras. The havan, though a regular & routine feature of the school activities, today was especially dedicated to seek blessings of Almighty for the students of Class Tenth who are soon going to aspire for their Board Examinations scheduled to be held in the month of March. The teachers from music department of the school sang melodious and inspirational hymns after the havan. The School Principal, Mr. D.P.Guleria, while talking to the students, encouraged them to put their best efforts in preparations and give their best performance in examinations to meet the expectations of their parents and the school. The School Manager, Shri S.K. Mehta blessed the students and wished them great success in forth coming examinations.
HAVAN AT BCM SCHOOL FOR CLASS TENTH STUDENTS
BCM KG Section organized a Quiz Contest for the students of Nursery class to stimulate the knowledge and to foster a healthy competition among the students. The four teams comprising of 3 students competed with each other. The quiz was divided in seven rounds i.e. General awareness, Visual Round, Rapid fire round, Lets arrange etc. They out performed each other to become the winners. The audience comprising of parents of participants were elated to witness their child’s performance. Trophies were given to the winners and books were given to the participants by the Headmistress.

Basant Panchmi was celebrated in KG section on 22nd January 2018. Children came in yellow attire and with yellow food. On this occassion kite making activity was conducted for LKG class. Teachers told them about the importance of Basant Panchmi .Kids tapped their feet on the foot taping numbers .

MORE THAN 6500 STUDENTS OF BCM SCHOOL PAY HOMAGE TO THE FATHER OF NATION
To pay honour and homage to the Father of Nation who was assassinated on 30 January 1948, a special morning assembly was conducted in BCM School Sec 32-A, Chandigarh Road Ludhiana. The students recited favourite bhajans of Gandhji like “Sabarmati Ke Sant Tune Kar Diya kamal”, “Vaishnav Jan To Tene Kehiye”, “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram”, which drenched the whole atmosphere with gratitude to the Father of Nation. 6500 students observed silence for two minutes at 11:00 am to pay respect & homage to the Father of Nation and other freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives during the journey of freedom. The students also delivered speeches highlighting the Gandhiji’s ideals of Satya, Ahimsa & Bhaichara. They also took a pledge to make Hindustan a better country to live in. The School Principal along with staff members paid homage to the Gandhiji & suggested the students to follow his principles of non-violence, self-dependence and even cleanliness.

The ability to recognize & describe shapes is a fundamental skill that provides a foundation for more advance skills. Keeping the same in mind BCM KG Section organized a shapes week for Nursery class where the kids brought food matching the different shapes on the day decided for it. Teachers showed the kids different types of models and the tiny tots accordingly filled the colors in different shapes.

Lohri was celebrated with a lot of exuberance & fanfare in BCM Kindergarten, Sec-32A. The liitle BCMites came to the school dressed in colourful attires and were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri. To make the day more vibrant a kite making competition was organized for UKG Class. Teachers acquainted the students with the importance of festival. Kids had a gala time as they danced around the holy bonfire & offered the prayers for the prosperity of the nation.

BEAS HOUSE LIFTED THE WINNING HOUSE TROPHY AT BCM SCHOOL 32-A
In BCM School Sector 32-A an Inter–house Play Competition was organized for the students of Middle Wing on 17 January 2018 in Mata Thakur Devi Hall. The houses chose their theme keeping in mind the current social issues. All the acts were thought provoking & left a remarkable impact on the audience. While Beas House addressed the issue of ‘Corruption’ , Ravi House ‘Say no to Dowry’, Satluj House ‘Begging a Curse’ & Yamuna House showed the concern to the ‘Child Labour’ with the enactment. From each enactment it was visible that they have put in lots of energies & hard work. The audiences were enthralled with the performance of each house & appreciated them. The judges appreciated the efforts of each house & further added that winning and losing are the two sides of life but if one takes both in positive sense then only one can emerge as a winner. The students of Beas House walked away with the First prize. Audience congratulated the winning house with a thunderous round of clap. The School Principal, Mr. D.P.Guleria applauded the efforts of the students & remarked that inter house activities allow each member of house to feel a sense of responsibility to give one’s best.

The famous Punjabi festival Lohri, also known as the ‘Festival of Harvest’ was celebrated at BCM School Sec-32 with a lot of exuberance and ballyhoo. The festive spirit of Lohri began by creating awareness among the students about the significance of the most – awaited Punjabi festival in Special School Morning Assembly through Lohri Songs, poems & Speeches. The students sang the famous folklore of Punjab related to Lohri ‘Sunder Munderiye’ with full joviality. Through the speeches the students were made aware about the festival which ushers the cheerful spring season bidding adieu to the dull winter season. The students relished themselves by bringing traditional winter foods like sarson ka Saag & Makki ki roti, Til(Sesame), rorhi(Jaggery) . The students had a gala time as they danced around the holy bonfire & offered their prayers for the prosperity of nation. The students were attired in the traditional dresses and were totally absorbed in the festive spirit of Lohri.The whole day was a scintillating bonanza of traditional culture and heritage. The students as well the staff members enjoyed this celebration of festival with full gaiety & enthusiasm. To improve communication & descriptive skills of children a ‘Show and Tell ‘ competition was organized for class Nursery in BCM kindergarten on 17th December 2017 . It was indeed a contest which unfurled the smartness ,agility and intelligence of the tiny tots . Kids exhibited their confidence and articulation skills while speaking on the topics like –Doll, car , save trees etc. Ms BinduSood & respective class teachers judged the competition . The winners of the competition were awarded with certificates & books.

Story telling competition was organized for UKG class in B.C.M Kindergarten Sec-32 A Chd. Road. This competition provided ample opportunity to the kids to showcase their narrative and descriptive skills. The participants exhibited their confidence while narrating different stories like Tenali Rama’s - The magical numbers, Honest woodcutter value of things etc. The students used different props and charts to make the stories lively. The winners of the competition were given trophies and books were given as souvenirs were given to the participants.

BCM Kindergarten Celebrated Christmas with full enthusiasm. The day started with a true massage of Christmas to the students i.e. love, peace, joy, forgiveness and spirit to serve people around them. Tiny tots clad in the costumes of Santa Clause, Angels & Fairies looked beautiful. Kid filled the colors in the picture of Christmas tree. Kids even tapped their feet on tunes of Jingle Bells.

Christmas is the perfect time to celebrate the love of God and to create memories that last forever. Christmas is not a time or a season, but a state of mind. To cherish peace and goodwill, to be plenteous in mercy, is to have the real spirit of Christmas. The festival of Christmas was celebrated with great zeal, gaiety and enthusiasm at BCM School, Chandigarh Road. A special assembly showcasing Nativity was put up by the students. The children apprised everyone with the twelve day long tradition of Christmas celebrations. Carols echoed in the campus. The students shared the background of the existence of Santa Claus. The whole campus was adorned with Christmas decorations- the Christmas trees, Caricature of Santa Claus and beautifully created Christmas scenes. Amazingly beautiful Wreaths made by Class V students added to the merry spirit of Christmas. Mr. D.P.Guleria, Principal, BCM School, Chandigarh Road greeted everyone; he congratulated the students for putting up an incredible show. He gave the message of being happy and enjoying the Christmas days with family and friends.

With a motive to acquaint the parents with the accomplishments & achievements of the UKG & LKG students during the session 2017-2018 “An Open Class Room Presentation“ was organized in Kindergarten Section. The children mesmerized the parents acting as an audience with their confidence & oratory skills. The slew of events managed at their own by the students left the spectators spell bound. The demonstration of telephonic conversation, lemonade making, table manners and conversation between doctor & patient were appreciated by one and all.
OPEN CLASSROOM PRESENTATION || LKG & UKG ||
Aweek-long ‘Ganit Week’ celebrations flagged off in BCM School, Chandigarh Road from 16th December to 22nd December in view of commemorating the birth anniversary of Dr Srinivasa Ramanujan, and in order to drive away the maths phobia and to help students see maths-learning in a new perspective. A host of events were organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road, with children from classes 2to 5 and 6 to 8, put in different categories and activities, conducted according to their age group. The junior category children took part in activities related to the concept of Fractions, Study of angles in different objects, Perimeter and Area through drawing of irregular figures and Indian Currency and facts related to it. The higher category students took part in a portrait making competition in which they made portraits of Dr Srinivasa Ramanujam . In another activity they were made acquainted with importance of Math in daily life and Fun with shapes. Apart from these activities students were also made familiar with Ramanujan’s number i.e 1729. This was a non routine way of getting learners involved in Mathematics activities. The aim of the event was to infuse spirit of innovation and the aptitude towards the subject of mathematics and also to increase the scientific temper.

The Kids of BCM Kindergarten organized Fruit Chat activity for ukg class on 18 december 2017. The event was planned to develop healthy eating habits among the children . Little BCMites assisted their teachers in making chat with a varity of fruits like banana, apple , papaya, etc . All the children relished the chat . This activity also gave them a golden lesson of helping their mothers at home . It was really a wonderful experience

Calligraphy is known as an art of Stylish hand writing. On 13 December 2017 calligraphy Competition for LKG Class was organized in BCM Kindergarten Sec.32A Chd. Road. 20 Short listed students competed with each other. Mrs Kiran Malhotra judged the competition. Winners were given the Prizes by the Headmistress of school.

The Award Ceremony was organized in Mata Thakur Devi Hall where the Principal of BCM School, also Director LSSC, Mr. D.P.Guleria was conferred with the prestigious award. Nearly 12 other Principals of the reputed schools of the city, including Dr. Paramjit Kaur (BCM Arya), Dr. Vandna Shahi (BCM Basant Avenue), Mrs. Poonam Dogra (Bal Bharati), Ms. Nupur Nutan (DCM Presidency), S. Karnail Singh (GGN), Mrs. Mona Singh (GNPS), Ms. Harmeet Kaur Waraich (Nankana Saheb), Mr. Yogesh Gambhir (DRV DAV Centenary) were also honored with the award.
The momentous event commenced with the lighting of the lamp amongst echoes of Gayatri Mantra. The founder and National Director of Avantika, Dr. Anand Agarwal, while addressing the elite gathering explained mission and vision of Avantika Group that has attained an all India status with more than 600 centers all over India. The group organizes variety of co-curricular activities like essay & painting competition, dance, song, debate competition, national integration camp, medical camp, awareness programs etc. and also sponsors international tours for under privileged children; providing them a platform at National and International levels.
Mr. Guleria extended his gratitude to Avantika and thanked the Principals mentioning their distinctive roles played in the development of the society and country.The function concluded on a very positive note with National Anthem.

Rash driving , frequent accidents and open violation of traffic rules put a big question mark on the safety of life on roads and this chaotic Scene makes it mandatory for educational institutions to aware the children at very young age of the rules of traffic . Realizing the responsibility B.C.M . K.G. section organised an activity of road safety for the tiny tots of L.KG. The students were intimated about the different rules eg : Always move on the left hand side , ensure to wear seat belt in car , follow the traffic lights ,use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road , open the door of the car carefully , not to take hand out of the window of a moving vehicle etc. The teachers demonstrated these though the well planned activity in the school campus .

BCM Kindergarten, sec.32A, organised ‘Button Tucking’ & ‘Shoe Lacing activity’ for the students of UKG. The aim of this activity was to make the kids self-reliant. The teachers in their class-rooms first of all gave the demonstration of tying the shoe laces and tucking the buttons of shirt. Children really enjoyed doing these activities.

Kids exhibited their great ideas and lovely creative skills by skillfully folding & cutting the paper with their deft hands . Beauty is the realm of the poetry , the children enjoy the beauty of expression , thoughts, feelings, rhythm and music of words .Taking all these facts into considerations the kindergarten section of B.C.M school organized “ English Rhyme Recitation competition” for the students of Nursery . The participants used attractive props to make their performance eye catching and lively . Mrs Pragati kapoor Headmistress of the school appreciated the winners by giving away the prizes.

As per the guidelines of DC Office, Ludhiana, on November 18, 2017,about 300 students and 50 teachers of Senior Secondary Section of BCM School ,Sector 32A took ‘Oath of Road Safety’ with an objective to create awareness among the students about the need &importance of road safety. The oath highlighted the need to be cautious, vigilant and sensitive while in traffic as little negligence on our part can cause huge harm to our lives and to the lives of others. Another objective of the event was to remember and pay tribute to the road traffic victims. The students realized the preciousness of human life and resolved to follow safety norms while driving and spread the same message among the masses.

Cleanliness is next to Godliness. So it is a habit which must be inculcated among the kids. Personal hygiene and cleanliness go side by side. Keeping all the things in mind activity of hand washing was carried out in BCM Kindergarten, Sec 32A, Chd Road. Children were made aware of the reasons responsible for hands getting dirty which are the real cause of different diseases. Teachers taught the different steps of washing hands and showed the kids the importance and steps by using audio visual methods.
