As a part of Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination drive launched by the government of India where 1.23 crore children will be vaccinated all over India , a Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination camp was organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road today. Around 1200 students from Class I to V were administered a single shot of combined measles-rubella (MR) vaccine in the school premises. The health staff from MCH, Vardhman, Sec. 32 headed by Dr. Amita Jain, Nodal Officer and Senior Medical Officer, Dr. Rahul Auplish, Medical Officer (Paed.) Civil Hospital and Gurdhian Singh, Supervisor administered the vaccine to the students. There were two venues for vaccination and one hall was kept as observation room where students were kept under observation for half an hour after vaccination. The camp went on smoothly under the supervision of Health staff and school staff. On this occasion, the vaccination team said that parents should utilize the opportunity to vaccinate their children, because the objective of the government is to eliminate measles and congenital rubella syndrome from the country and build up immunity in children aged between nine months to fifteen years.

The love of mother is the veil of a softer light between the heart and heavenly father. Mother's Day is a day on which everyone expresses their gratitude to mothers. To mark the occasion, a plethora of activities were conducted in Primary wing of BCM School, Sector 32-A, Chandigarh Road. Students from I to III recited heart touching poems in Hindi and Punjabi and expressed their emotions. They used various props to present their poem more effectively. Class IV student participated in a greeting card making competition wherein they showcased their creativity and articulated their adoration to their mothers through beautiful eye catching cards. Class V students celebrated Family day by participating in an elocution competition on the topic “Importance of Family”.

To celebrate the various advancements that have emerged in the field of technology and to commemorate the National Technology Day a special morning assembly and PPT Making Competition were organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road Ludhiana. This day is celebrated across the country to memorize the anniversary of Shakti, The Pokhran nuclear test held on 11 May 1998. Students from classes VI –VIII participated in Power Point Presentation Competition on ‘The Latest Technologies’ and all the participants showcased their knowledge by explaining the latest progressions in the arena of Technology and Science. All the participants participated enthusiastically and put their best efforts to triumph the tag of winner. Power Point Presentations keep the audience engaged and excited, also, not letting them lose their concentration. The participants and winners were awarded with the certificates. Saarvi of class VII E glorified the importance of science in day to day life in her PPT and won the first position.

As a mark of respect to the founder of Red Cross movement Sir Henry Dunant, World Red Cross Day was celebrated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road. This day is celebrated every year on May 8 to mark its founder’s birthday and to highlight the fundamental principles of Red Cross Society like Humanity, Impartiality, Neutrality, Independence, Volunteer Service, Unity and Universality. In order to inculcate the value of help in students and to make them aware about the role of Red Cross Society and its motto, “Everywhere for Everyone”, World Red Cross Day was the theme adopted in the morning assembly. Through a PPT students understood the value of First Aid, assistance at the right time and above all helping. Students were imparted information on this special day and the reason it is celebrated worldwide. Lectures were held by the teachers in respective classes. Students were fascinated to know the main functions of the Red Cross that fall into four categories- blood collection, disaster relief, aids to soldiers and victims of war and community education.

The peals of laughter echoed loud in the campus of BCM School Sec-32 as the toddlers ok KG Section celebrated ‘World Laughter Day’. The teachers in their respective classes brought smiles on the faces of their students with laughter exercises. They also acquainted the children with the benefits of laughing through different stories. Principal Mr.DP Guleria said that each day should be celebrated as laughter day as in today’s stressful life laughter can only relax us.

Labour Day was celebrated with full aplomb. School campus wore a festive look with gleeful faces and streams of Thank you cards, all set to celebrate the unsung pillars of the school. A special assembly inaugurated the day wherein students made everyone acquainted of the importance of the day and also thanked all the helpers of the school for their support and dedication.
They were acknowledged for their contributions and irreplaceable inputs for the welfare of the school. Students were motivated to respect all such people without whose help, life would not be that easy. The class IV employees were taken aback by the show of affection and numerous expressions of gratitude.

Rhymes have an enormous educational value for the kids .Early learning of rhymes & rhythmic expressions enhance the phonetic skills of the toddlers. Keeping this in mind BCM kindergarten organized “Rhyme Recitation Competition” for UKG class. This competition was organized on April 23, 2018. 20 short listed participants took part in this competition. Students showed their talent by reciting rhymes on the topic like Save girl child, Save water, India so great,Time is precious etc. The audience comprising of the parents of the participants were happy to see their kids performig on the stage. The winners received certificates as prizes and participants received books as appreciation for their efforts.
ENGLISH RHYME RECITATION COMPETITION ||UKG||
Dance is the hidden language of soul. The dance can reveal everything mysterious that is hidden in the music. To celebrate International Dance Day, a solo dance competition was organized for students of class IV and V. Students participated enthusiastically. They presented beautiful and energetic dances wearing eye-catching attires. Audience enjoyed jovially. It was an effort to find hidden talents of students.

Kindergarten Section of BCM organised ‘Colouring Competition’ for the students of LKG. The contestants enjoyed filling colours in picture given to them. It was a sheer pleasure to see young children filling colours in the picture of sunflower with so much dexterity and ease. With the aim to celebrate the International Dance Day, an Inter House Dance Competition was organized in the Middle Block for the classes VI, VII & VIII. All the houses participated with great zeal & enthusiasm. The participants set the stage on fire with their energetic dance moves & costumes. Overall the competition was a great event and saw some beautiful performance which mesmerized everyone. Beas House emerged as the winner house in the inter house competition.
INTER HOUSE SOLO DANCE COMPETITION II MIDDLE WING II
To inculcate a spirit of healthy competition and sense of belongingness the entire school community is divided into four houses i.e. Beas, Ravi, Sutlej and Yamuna. Various inter house competitions are held on a regular basis to promote all round development of BCMites. Each house has been given a display board which reflects the information about the respective house and creativity of its mentor, teachers and students. An Inter House competition was conducted for the House Display Boards. All the four house boards were decorated with some theme.
Beas House (Ms. Rachna) was judged as the best house board.

To teach children about the importance of ‘Earth Day’ varied activities were conducted in the KG section of B.CM School Sec -32A on April 21, 2018. Kids of Nur. enjoyed pasting the picture of earth in their drawing notebooks. L.K.G kids using balloon impressions to make globe on sheet. Kids of U.K.G drew & coloured the model of earth. Teachers familiarized the students with the shape of earth by demonstrating globe in the classes. The teachers also acquainted them about the harmful effects of polythene bags & guided them to avoid using polythene bags.

It is rightly said that books are our best friends. To inculcate the habit of book reading in the students and to tell them the importance of books in our lives, World book day was celebrated. In class I teachers read out moral based stories. In classes II and III students enjoyed reading and listening stories. Class IV and V students participated in News Paper reading activity in zero period. They were guided about the importance of reading with proper pronunciation and fluency.

Earth Day was celebrated to raise the awareness among students and to give a tribute to the Mother Earth in Middle Wing. Eco Club & Work Exp. Club organized Mask Making (VI), Model Making (VII) &PPT Making (VIII) activities in Zero period. Students prepared eye- catching models and masks of earth. All the students participated in these activities with full exuberance. The best entries were chosen from classes VI, VII & VIII and winners were awarded with certificates.

With the motive that every day should be Earth Day, “Eco Club” carried out awareness activities for the students of classes I to V. They were sensitized about the importance of saving environment through different activities. Classes I, II and III participated in a Model Making Competition. Students prepared eye- catching models having a message to save Mother Earth.
To celebrate World Astronomy Day and to make the students aware of the wonders of space display boards of class IV were decorated with the theme “Solar System” and display boards of class V were adorned with the facts about “Famous astronauts”.

BCM always endeavors to inculcate in young learners a passionate love and attachment towards the country’s opulent cultures and heritage. For the same World Heritage Day was celebrated in Primary Wing. A Collage Making Competition on the topic Heritage Sites of India was conducted for the students of class IV and V. Students were divided into four groups according to houses for collage making. One best entry from each class was selected. A Heritage Quiz on the theme ‘Our Rich Heritage’was also organized for the members of Quiz Club. Students were divided into four teams. The quiz consisted of five rounds. The students learnt something beyond their books and participated in the quiz enthusiastically.

To introduce tiny toddlers with the vivid & rich culture of Punjab, Baisakhi festival was celebrated with great fervor in BCM Kindergarten Sec -32A Chandigarh Road. Students of LKG clad in Punjabi attires walked on the ramp and competed with their peers for the coveted titles i.e “ Sohna Gabru “ & Sohni Mutiyaar’’. The winners received certificates as prizes & participants received books as appreciation for their efforts.Kids of Nursery & UKG danced to the tunes of Punjabi numbers and got coloured in the hue of this festival. Healthy mind lives in a healthy body and to spread the awareness among the little BCMites, Kindergarten Section of BCM School celebrated ‘World Health Day”. The kids brought sprouts in their lunch boxes and relished eating it in the company of their friends during their lunch break. To keep up with the tradition of celebrating all the festivals with great fervor and gaiety, the students and staff members of BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana celebrated Baisakhi with great zeal and enthusiasm & paid tribute to the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre victims through a plethora of activities. Apprising the children of their rich culture, heritage & history, all the students participated in One Act Play, Poster Making, Event Description, Songs on Baisakhi & Slogan writing activities. BCM School is always keen in making BCMites excellent in each aspect. Students also paid tribute to the Father of Constitution; Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.And remembered the great contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in the Constitution of India through Biography Writing & PPT presentation. The day started with a special morning assembly. Students gave the speeches on Jallianwala Bagh Massacre and explained how that massacre became a turning point in the history of India’s struggle for freedom. On other hand they recited the poems to narrate the beauty of harvest festival, Baisakhi. The whole school came alive with different performances. Speaking on the occasion, The School Principal; Mr. D.P. Guleria congratulated the students & staff members & also paid honor to the Dr. B.R.Ambedkar.

To make the students aware about the good health and hygiene an activity on ‘Health and Hygiene’ was organized in Middle Section .The activities, lecture & Demonstration on “Good Food Habits” and “Avoid Junk Food” were organized. Students were made aware about the importance of good health & personal hygiene through these activities. These all activities were systematized by the Health Club Members. The main motto of activity was to make the students aware about the harmful effects of Junk food & advantages of fruits, green leafy vegetables.

On 27th March 2018, the KG Section of BCM School Sec -32 A Chandigarh Road adorned spiritual ambience with the chanting of sacred mantras to welcome the new entrants of Nursery. It was the day when President Mr Vijay Munjal, Mrs Rekha Munjal, School Principal Mr D.P Guleria, , elite guests, teachers & parents sought the blessings of the Almighty for the tiny tots on their first step in the journey of education . Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria in his address thanked the parents for their reflecting faith in the school by selecting BCM for their wards. He also guided the parents to be a role model for their children as they learn many things from observation only. Manager Mr. S.K Mehta in his words assured the parents of quality education & unmatchable facilities for the children in the school. The students of Nursery, L.KG & UKG stole the show by giving their meticulous performance while conducting the event. One and all appreciated the students for their excellent oratory skills.

Calligraphy is known as an art of stylish handwriting. On February 19, 2018 ‘Calligraphy Competition’ was organized for UKG classes in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road Ludhiana. The main objective of the competition was to motivate the children to write neatly in good handwriting and make children more particular about the curves and shapes of different alphabets. All the students of different sections of UKG enthusiastically took part in the competition. The winners were given certificates and the participants were given books as souvenir.

Around 1200 students from the classes Nursery, LKG & UKG enthusiastically took part in the 6th Annual Athletic Meet. The tiny tots holding different colour flags and marching together gracefully won appreciation of the audience. The cultural items to embellish the events on different days captivated the hearts of the parents acting as an audience. The tastefully decorated ground was a feast to the eye of beholders. The children enthusiastically took part in varied events like-Passing the tunnel Race, Get ready for the party race, Ice-cream race, plant the sapling race and many others. The winners & participants were honoured with the medals. Principal, Mr D.P. Guleria in his address appreciated the efforts of students and teachers and stressed on the need of games and sports in today’s life. The event reached to the culmination with National Anthem.
ATHLETIC MEET || KG||
BCM KG Section organized a quiz contest for the students of LKG class to stimulate the knowledge of students and to foster a healthy competition among the students . The five teams comprising of 4 students duly titled Master minds ,Mind Bogglers ,Free Thinkers , Quiz Magicians , Bright Sparks competed with each other .The quiz was divided in seven rounds i.e General Awareness Round , Lets Arrange , Audio-Visual round , Rapid Fire Round giving a tough competition to each other. Master minds clinched the title of winners while mind bogglers team stood second and free thinkers team stood third .The audience comprising of parents of the participants were elated to witness their child’s performance. Winners were given trophies and books were given to the participants by the Headmistress of school.
