The onset of monsoon season brings fun, frolic and festivities in its fold. The celebrations of teej during the rainy season make it more vibrant and enjoyable. To acquaint the students with this traditional festival, BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road celebrated Teej on 16 August in school premises. The students came to the school in traditional Punjabi attires. Kids also gave energetic dance performances on Punjabi numbers. The students enjoyed the traditional food items brought by them from their homes.

In order to sensitize the little minds of the value of freedom of India BCM KG Section Sec-32 Chandigarh Road celebrated Independence Day with great fervor on 13th August .The tastefully decorated campus with the tricolor flags, charts and drawings depicting the importance of the day was a feast to the beholders. All the students took part in different activities planned for the day. Nursery children felt elated while pasting bindies in the picture of national flag whereas the students of LKG made tricolor flag by cutting and pasting the coloured papers. The students of UKG showed the patriotic feelings by speaking a few lines on the importance of 15th August. So the day abuzz with activities was a rich learning experience for the young buds of KG Section.

BCM campus got wrapped in fervor of patriotism when BCMites participated in various activities planned for Independence Day. Students of Class I to III participated in a ‘Poem Recitation’ competition while students of class IV and V participated in a ‘Role Play’ competition. Students of class VI used tri colour for making flower bunches and wool hangings. Great enthusiasm was witnessed among the young BCMites. The motive behind conducting the activities was to emphasize the true meaning and value of freedom and evolution of India among the students. Through these activities rich tribute was paid to great freedom fighters who fought selflessly and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.

Rash driving, frequent accidents and open violation of traffic rules put a big question mark on the safety of life on roads and this chaotic scene makes it mandatory for educational institutions to aware the children at very young age. Keeping the same in mind, BCM School Sec-32 organized an activity on Road Safety for the tiny tots of LKG class. The teachers intimated the students about the different rules eg-.-always move on the left hand side ,ensure to wear seat belt in car , follow the traffic lights, use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road, open the door of the car carefully, not to take the hand out of the window of a moving vehicle etc. The teachers demonstrated these through the well planned activity in the school campus.

Senior Citizen Day and International Youth Day were celebrated at BCM School, Chandigarh Road Ludhiana to acknowledge the contribution of the elderly people to our society & to recognize the efforts of youth in enhancing global society. The day started with a heart touching speech by Bhavya of class VIII in the Morning Assembly on ‘Our Elders -Our Pride’ which emphasized that elderly people are like a big tree that saves us from the scorching heat and rain and no society can succeed without the cultural heritage and blessings of elderly people. The students of class VI also prepared Greeting Cards for their grandparents and depicted their heart felt feelings in a beautiful way. To highlight the importance of youth in today’s world, students of classes VII & VIII participated in Declamation Contest ‘Virtues and Vices For Young India’.Sarvi of class VII said , “ The main aim of this day is to promote ways to engage youngsters in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.” Charvi of class VI shared that Senior Citizens are the jewels and pearls of the nation as they have got opulent experience to solve the tangles of life. With the celebration of these days in the school campus BCMites recognized the efforts of the elder people and duties of youngsters towards their nation.

A world deprived of peace and harmony certainly will fall. The issue of war and peace has always been a focal issue in all periods of history among all the nations. It is important to give peace education to our young generation to reduce violence and promote peace. To meet this objective and to make students aware of the destructive and disastrous ‘Hiroshima Day ‘ a declamation contest on the topic ‘Peace and Harmony “ was conducted. Members of Articulators club of classes IV and V participated in it.

‘DSSL’ is a critical thinking and aptitude based competition that provides a unique platform for the students to compete and win laurels for themselves and their schools. The competition would be held in three stages. The first stage of ‘DSSL’ was conducted in the all classes. All the students participated in it. Paper was in MCQ form. Fun filled activities for the kids in school not only give a break from the mundane routine but also bring children close to each other. Keeping the same in mind ‘Splash Bash’-A pool Party was organized for the students of UKG & NUR. The fun, frolic and excitement started as soon as the little ones arrived dressed in their colorful swimming costumes. Different swings and colorful umbrellas gave a rich ambience to the venue of the party. The kids had splashes of laughter while dancing on the foot tapping numbers in the soothing weather. Traditional sweet dishes in the lunch boxes were like an icing on the cake for the little party bugs.

For the tiny tots of LKG and UKG ‘Boat Making’ and Umbrella Making’ activity was organized. This activity made the monsoon season more interesting, colorful and creative for the kids. They really enjoyed the art of folding paper and making colorful boats and umbrella. Their joy knew no bounds to float their paper boats in the pool of water.

Dance is the language of the soul. It rejuvenates and energizes the dancer. To provide a platform to the exhibit the hidden talent of young BCMites KG Section of BCM Sec 32 organised Dancing Competition for the students of UKG. Almost 20 students from different sections competed with each other to win the prize. Tiny tots left the audience spell bound with their swift dance movements, apposite dresses and well suited props. The winners were given certificates as a mark of appreciation and participants were given books as souvenirs

To enrich the little BCMites with the invaluable asset of pleasing manners “Good Manners Week’’ was celebrated for all the classes in the KG section of BCM. Children in this week learnt about helping others, obedience, sharing and caring, cleanliness of surroundings and importance of sorry, please and thank you. To make the learning of these invaluable values interesting, teachers narrated stories, showed different cartoon clippings and involved the kids in varied activities.

Report on ‘An Expert’s Lecture’( British Council)
After getting the accreditation from British Council successfully, the school continued the same track with great passion and fervor by conducting ‘An Expert’s Lecture’ on ‘Water: Soul of the Earth’ on 26 July 2018 in the activity Hall. Ms. Renu Bala (TGT- SST) acquainted the students of a few sections of classes VI and VII with water cycle, importance of water and rain gauge with the help of a PPT. She commenced the lecture with a Brain Storming Session by which she tested their previous knowledge about water .Thereafter, she equipped the students with the reasons, effects and preventions of flood and draught not only in India but also in Nigeria. She concluded the lecture with a pledge to save water. The same knowledge will be shared with our partner school in Nigeria.
BRITISH COUNCIL ACTIVITY II MIDDLE WING II
Students of BCM, Chandigarh Road gave rich tribute to all the armed forces of India by celebrating Kargil Victory Day in school and again reminded everyone present there about the sacrifices done by Indian Armed forces while steadfastly keeping India safe. The Kargil Victory Day is celebrated all over India every year on 26th July in order to remember the courage, velour and supreme sacrifice Indian forces show cased in Operation Vijay, in which India won the crucial Kargil war in 1999, taking back charge of the outposts lost to Pakistan. Bcmites remembered Kargil War Heroes their courage and commitment. They paid tribute to the 527 martyrs of Kargil war who laid down their lives for the nation. The students of Grade-IV presented a beautiful assembly based on the victory of Kargil war. Life history of Kargil War Heroes was penned down through beautiful Bio- Sketches by class IV and V students. It was an interesting way of telling students to respect our forces that safe guard the country from internal and external exigency. It was done with a view to salute the real heroes of the Nation and inspire the students for a patriotic cause.

Clay Modeling helps to develop eye hand co-ordination. It not only provides children a lot of fun and excitement but also gives wings to their imagination. Keeping the same in mind KG Section of BCM School Sector- 32A Chandigarh Road organized an inter section Clay Modeling Competition for the students of LKG on July 24, 2018. 20 students from different sections showed their skills in the art of clay modeling. The motive behind this competition was to stimulate the imagination of the children and enable them to give it a better shape. There was a lot of gaiety & enthusiasm among the participants.

To make the tiny tots understand the significance of color in our life BCM Kindergarten celebrated its color week from 21 to 26 May .E ach day new colors were introduced to the children .Nursery students , teachers dressed up in that particular color and enjoyed varoius creative activities together. Eatables of the relevant color were brought by the tiny tots .Classrooms and display were turned up into the corresponding colors.

BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana organized an inter – house Talent Hunt for the classes III-VIII. Talent Hunt is an event which gives platform to students to represent their camouflaged prowess. Around 3000 students participated in it. The event included a plethora of activities like Declamation, Debate, Choreography, Classical Dance, Best out of waste, Instrument Playing, Poem Recitation, Singing, Painting, Mono Acting and Story Telling. All the participants exhibited unmatchable talent in all the events and above all, this event helped the children to evolve higher level of creativity, observation, self- expression and confidence. The audience was captivated by all the wonderful performances. Satluj House took the lead and lifted the Winning House tag in this event .The Principal blessed the students for showing excellent hidden talent and also motivated them to adopt the spirit of healthy competition.
INTER HOUSE TALENT HUNT II MIDDLE & PRIMARY WING II
To highlight the health risks associated with tobacco use, “World No Tobacco Day” , designated by the World Health Organization is observed every year on May 31. To generate awareness on this issue the Health Club took an initiative to explain the harmful effects of smoking and other tobacco products to the students. Students of class IV participated in a poster making competition in which they prepared though provoking posters. Students of class III participated in a Slogan writing competition through which they articulated their concern for the issue through different slogans.

Road, Ludhiana with great fervor and zest. More than 4000 students paid tribute to the great persona by partaking in auspicious Hawan Ceremony and Morning Assembly which rented the air with divinity and soulfulness. The musical extravaganza “Our alma Mater is a place to worship” was aligned the profound vision of Arya samaj to make our educational institute a temple of education. In Hawan all the students took the pledge to imbibe the ten Rules of Arya Samaj in their life and they also promised to propagate the teachings of Arya Samaj to do good to the society. The participants chose a variety of topics for their recitation like ‘Save Nature’, Say no to ‘Polybags’, ‘Save Girl Child’, ‘Ten little fingers’ etc. The eye catching props made the performances of the contestants more colourful and vibrant. To make the children responsible and teach the art of hospitality, a Tray Holding Activity was done for the students of LKG in the Activity Period. Children were taught how offer a glass of water and to hold a tray. Children really enjoyed this ‘Tray Holding Activity’ and felt confident.

May 22 is proclaimed as International day for Biological Diversity in order to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. Biodiversity is important to prevent some species from becoming extinct. If rapid climate change continues at the current rate, wildlife may not have time to adapt which could cause many animals to go extinct. To make the students aware about the term 'Biodiversity' a collage making competition was conducted for class IV and V on the topics “Diversity in Species " and “ Diversity in Landscapes.” In classes II and III a “Best Out of Waste" Competition was also organized to make the students conscious about 3 R's 'Reduce, Reuse and Recycle’. Principal Sh. D.P. Guleria commended the efforts of students and inspired the students to contribute through their small efforts to save our planet and its Biodiversity.

To improve the communicative and descriptive skills of children a ‘Show and Tell competition’ was organized for UKG Class in the Kindergarten Section of BCM School on 17th May 2018.22participants took part in the final round of the competition. The team of doctors from Mother and Childcare Hospital under the leadership of Dr. Amita Jain (SMO) carried out the vaccination MR Vaccination drive in BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. As many as 950 students from classes VI-VIII were administered the measles and rubella vaccination. The team said that each parent should utilize this opportunity and students were made aware about the benefits of vaccination. They also told the students that the main motto of this campaign is to eradicate the measles and rubella from India.
