International Collaborative Activity at BCM School,Chandigarh Road

In a pioneering initiative, BCM School, Chandigarh Road , organised an international collaborative activity for its students of class V, transcending geographical boundaries to foster global learning. This virtual session brought together young BCMites and their counterparts from Imaad School, Nigeria, creating a dynamic platform for knowledge exchange.

The focal point of the interaction was a discussion on communicable diseases and the preventive measures adopted by their respective countries. Students engaged in a vibrant dialogue and deepened their understanding of global health challenges. This collaborative effort was not merely an educational activity but a significant milestone in expanding the students' purview.

 

The event aimed at nurturing the students to think like global citizens, encouraging them to appreciate diverse perspectives and solutions to shared challenges. Through this cross-cultural exchange, participants not only gained knowledge but also developed a sense of unity and interconnectedness with the global community.

This activity marked a great learning experience for the students, providing them with a firsthand realisation that, while their daily lives may look different, the aspiration to build a better future remains a common thread. Middle wing commemorated Ramanujan’s Birth anniversary as Ganit week starting from December 18 to December 22. Students participated in a plethora of competitions like inter house mathematical quiz, portrait making, book mark making, Maths book cover etc.

Electric Mobility Hackathon at BCM School Chandigarh road Ludhiana in Collaboration with BML Munjal University.

In an exciting showcase of innovation and technological prowess, BCM School Chandigarh Road, in collaboration with BML Munjal University, organized an Electric Mobility Hackathon for students of grades 11th and 12th. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from schools across PUNJAB fostering a spirit of competition and collaboration among young minds. The event aimed to explore and promote creative solutions in the field of electric mobility, encouraging students to harness their skills in technology, engineering, and sustainability.  Principal Mr. DP Guleria, inaugurated the event and delivered an inspiring speech, emphasizing the importance of innovation and applauding the students for their commitment to exploring new frontiers in technology. He encouraged the participants to think beyond conventional boundaries and contribute to the ongoing evolution of the automotive industry.

At the end of the hackathon, the following schools and teams emerged victorious:

1. Winner: BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana- Prize: Rs.50,000 with a 75% scholarship for the winning team members.

2. 1st Runner-up: Jesus Sacred Heart School, Ludhiana- Prize: Rs.30,000 with a 50% scholarship for the winning team members.

3. 2nd Runner-up: R.S Model Sr Sec School & BCM School Basant City - Prize: Rs.20,000 with a 25% scholarship for the winning team members.

The Electric Mobility Hackathon at BCM School not only provided a platform for young minds to showcase their talent but also fostered a culture of innovation and collaboration. The event stands as a testament to the school's commitment to nurturing the next generation of thinkers and innovators in the ever-evolving landscape of technology and sustainability.

"BCM School Hosts Empowering Career Fair: Shaping Futures, Igniting Possibilities"

In a bid to shape the academic aspirations of its students, BCM School Chandigarh Road hosted a highly successful Career Fair, providing a unique platform for students to interact with representatives from 30 universities. The event, held under the guidance of Principal Mr. DP Guleria, witnessed a special highlight with the presence of delegates from the University of Manitoba, adding an international dimension to the fair. The Career Fair, held at Mata Thakur Devi Auditorium showcased a myriad of educational opportunities as representatives from 30 universities engaged with students, sharing insights into various courses, admission processes, and campus life. The vibrant atmosphere reflected the eagerness of students to explore diverse career paths and make informed decisions about their future. Principal Mr DP Guleria encouraged students to seize such opportunities for personal and academic growth. The Career Fair featured interactive sessions where students engaged in meaningful conversations with university representatives, fostering a conducive environment for academic queries and discussions. Information booths adorned the venue, offering comprehensive details about courses, scholarships, and admission procedures. Constitution Day

On the occasion of Constitution Day, observed on the 26th of November to honor the adoption of the Constitution of India, BCM School orchestrated a series of enlightening activities. These endeavors were meticulously designed to underscore and reaffirm the profound values and principles embedded in our constitution.

The commemorative celebrations were marked by various engaging events, with students actively participating in activities aimed at deepening their understanding of this foundational document. A notable highlight included the collective reading of the preamble, symbolizing a collective commitment to the ideals enshrined within.

The intellectual vigor of the students was further ignited through a constitutional quiz, where they showcased their knowledge and comprehension of the guiding principles that shape our nation. Additionally, a captivating PowerPoint presentation was employed as a pedagogical tool, imparting insightful information about the constitution, ensuring that the essence of this vital document was effectively communicated to the student body.

The enthusiastic participation of the students underscored their keen interest and eagerness to grasp the significance of the Constitution of India. As we continue to foster a culture of constitutional awareness, these celebrations serve as a testament to our commitment to nurturing informed and responsible .Approximately 400 students along with teachers got the certificate of reading preamble on government  portal.

A fun filled literary based ‘Book Week’

A fun filled literary based ‘Book Week’ was celebrated from Nov. 20 to Nov. 24, 2023. There were various activities to enhance the creative and scholastic skills of chilldren in this week. All the students participated enthusiastically in different activities organized during the week like Newspaper Reading, Book Mark and Book Jacket Making, Book Review Writing and Budding Authors. Students of class IV penned down review on their fovourite books. The week concluded with the final round of Story Telling Competition for class III and V.

Students paid tribute to Kartar Singh Sarabha

November 16 is commemorated as Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Kartar Singh Sarabha, who was born and brought up in the Ludhiana district. He was one of the youngest martyr in the country, who attained martyrdom at the age of 19 years.
Students of VI to VIII were acquainted with his life and role in freedom struggle through video presentations. Later, they paid tribute to the martyr by writing his biography.

BCM School, Chandigarh Road, took center stage at India's largest anti-drug rally, orchestrated by Ludhiana Police Commissionerate on Nov 16, 2023, at PAU. 

Approximately 100 students infused the event with their contagious enthusiasm, amplifying its impact and ensuring success! 

Amidst the spirited rally conclusion, the spotlight shone on Harkirat Singh, who clinched a cycle in a thrilling lucky draw—adding an extra layer of excitement to the proceedings!

Inspector Sukhdev Singh Brar,ACP Gurdev Singh are not just a guardian of law but a beacon of inspiration too.They ignited a wave of motivation and purpose among the students, urging them to champion this noble cause! 

Beyond the surface, the rally's core mission was to sow seeds of awareness about the perils of drugs. 

In this transformative journey, these young minds not only absorbed crucial insights but also imbibed timeless values—unity, empathy, and righteousness.

BRITISH COUNCIL ACTIVITY

British Council International Activity on the theme “Food: The Fuel of Our Life” was organized for the students of class II. The activity aimed at enhancing students’ curiosity beyond national boundaries. In phase -I “Cuisine: India Vs other countries” each section was assigned a different country and all the students in different sections prepared small charts depicting the basic ingredients used to prepare food in India vs those of the assigned country. Little learners expanded their vocabulary by learning the names of some popular dishes from different countries. In Phase – II “I Know, You Know = We Know” some elected students shared their knowledge about the food habits of different countries with their peers.

"Ecological Essence Week"

The Secondary Wing organized an "Ecological Essence Week" to encourage the students to adopt eco-friendly practices and help in preserving the environment. As part of the event, a motivational short film competition, a model-making competition and a pot-making competition were organized on the topic "Maintenance of Ecological Balance" in which various teams of students took part and showcased their creativity and talent in promoting environmental awareness. The pots were made using eco-friendly such as clay, jute, and coconut coir. The students highlighted the various ways we can maintain ecological balance, such as planting trees, conserving water and energy, reducing waste, minimizing the use of plastic and other non-biodegradable materials and adopting sustainable living practices.

Dussehra different activities for the students of class I to V

On the pious occasion of Dussehra different activities were organised for the students of class I to V to light up the festive fervour. Students were made aware about the significance of the festival. 
Students prepared beautiful puppets and masks of different characters of Ramayana. A Role Play competition was also organised for students of class IV & V wherein they enacted as different characters of Ramayana. Students learnt about the  value of "Truth always triumphs". The activities enhanced their motor skills and oratory skills.

16th TECHNO FEST APICES AT BCM SCHOOL CHANDIGARH ROAD

Techno Fest: An Enlightened Vision’ culminated at BCM School Chandigarh Road with declaration of results and prize distribution. This annual event was organized to commemorate 93rd Birth Anniversary of the former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam and witnessed participation of contestants from 25 leading schools of Punjab, competing in English Declamation, Coding Competition Decipher, Science Expo, Robothon and Science Quiz.

DAV Public School, BRS Nagar, Ludhiana emerged as the overall winner followed by Cambridge International School, Phagwara and  BCM School, Focal Point, Ludhiana on 2nd and 3rd positions.  

The winners were awarded with certificates, trophies and cash prizes worth Rs. 8000/- in a grand valediction ceremony that commenced with welcome address by the Principal. He extended an exclusive welcome to Shri Suresh Chandra Munjal, Trustee BCM Foundation, Manager of the school Dr. Prem Kumar and the Chief Guest, Dr VP Sethi – a President Awardee and listed among the world’s top 2% global scientists by Stanford University, and other distinguished guests including judges from esteemed colleges and universities.

 

Mr. Guleria, also thanked the participating schools and appreciated the zeal of students and accompanying teachers. He said that Dr. Kalam is a beacon of light that will continue to show us the path of righteousness. He also inspired all to reflect upon life and contributions of Dr. Kalam and said that there is much to learn from this legendary leader. Shri Suresh Chandra Munjal, trustee BCM Foundation lauded efforts of the school, teachers and children and inspired all to stay motivated like APJ Abdul Kalam.

16th TECHNO FEST ON THE GO AT BCM SCHOOL CHANDIGARH ROAD

‘Techno Fest: An Enlightened Vision’ began at BCM School Chandigarh Road with much aplomb. The school organizes this Inter-School event every year to commemorate Birth Anniversary of the former President Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam. This year it is 16th of its kind celebrating 93rd Birth Anniversary of the missile man and is witnessing participation of contestants from 25 leading schools of the city; competing in activities like English Declamation, Coding Competition Decipher, Science Expo, Robothon and Science Quiz for certificates, trophies and cash prizes worth Rs. 8000/-.

The Manager of the school Dr. Prem Kumar declared the Technofest 2023 open. The Principal DP Guleria extended a cordial welcome along with his best wishes to all participating teams & escort teachers.

The valediction and prize distribution ceremony is scheduled on 16th October wherein Dr VP Sethi – a President Awardee and listed among the world’s top 2% global scientists by Stanford University – shall be presiding over the event as the Chief Guest and will give away prizes to the winners.

A panel of judges comprising of highly qualified and experienced scholars from renowned universities and colleges of the state will assess performance of contestants and pronounce the verdict.

Besides, developing scientific aptitude of the students, the event is also a tribute to the great scientist, innovator and leader – Dr. Kalam who himself was an epitome of assiduous efforts, diligence and allegiance towards duty.

International Girl Child Day

To mark the occasion of International Girl Child Day different activities and competitions were organized. Teachers acquainted the students with the importance of the day. Students also read about young women achievers. A Role Play Competition was organized for the students of class II and III. Students enacted as Young Women Achievers. A poem recitation competition was organized for the   students of class IV and V.  The theme of the competition was “Dhiyan da Satkar." Students recited heart touching poems in Punjabi and gave message to help every girl child in the world to have the same rights of education, nutrition, medical care etc. A Poster making competition was also organized on the theme "Save Girl Child- Let her grow". Students participated in  all the activities enthusiastically.

Celebration of Hindi Diwas

On account of ‘Hindi Diwas’, Hindi Department of BCM School, Chd. Road organized various competitions for the students. BCMites rejoiced as they celebrated Hindi Diwas with enthusiasm and fervour to emphasize the importance of Official Language of our country. A special morning assembly was organized to mark the importance of the country’s most widely spoken language. Students of all blocks participated in a plethora of activities consisting of Doha Gayan, Achman Mantra Recitation, Kavita Gayan, Ramayan ki Chopayeeyan, Kahavton se Kahani, Doha Lekhan, Slogan Writing, Bhashan Pratiyogita, Biographies of authors and poets etc. Students of class I and II mesmerized the judges when they recited dohas written by Kabir ji and Tulsidas ji with confidence and beautiful expressions. Class V students enacted as famous poets and poetesses of Hindi. To make the event fun filled and interesting, there was a round of riddles and puzzles also. The event was an initiative to make the students respect and learn the importance of our official language – ‘Hindi’. Students from all the blocks participated in this event enthusiastically. Principal D P Guleria conveyed his wishes on this auspicious day by saying that Hindi is an unbreakable part of India's culture. Hindi has been a unifying force for the whole nation for centuries and we should protect it and respect it.

Janmashtami Celebration

To seek the blessings of Lord Krishna, Janmashtami was celebrated by students of  BCM School, Chandigarh road  with mirth and joy.  To celebrate the extraordinary bond between man and the Almighty, students took the opportunity to participate in a plethora of activities. BCMites  participated in Flute decoration, Krishna crown making, Matki Decoration, Jhula decoration, Poster decoration of Lord Krishna, Geeta Saar writing etc. Tiny tots of kindergarten presented a play on the life of Lord Krishna. Students also narrated anecdotes from Krishna’s life. Students were motivated to celebrate all festivals with true spirit of devotion and obedience towards the almighty. The purpose of the flamboyant cerebration was to inculcate the value of Karmas, truth and honesty among the students.

DR. BRIJ MOHAN LALL MUNJAL CENTENNIAL TEACHERS’ DAY CELEBRATIONS

Staff and students of BCM School Chandigarh Road offered a reverential tribute to Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan (1888-1975) who served as India’s Vice-President (1952-1962) and later as President (1962-1967) on his 135th birth anniversary. The day known as teachers’ day was marked with enthusiastic performances by the students and a session of interactive discussions by the teachers on New Education Policy (NEP). Students poured out their heartfelt emotions for the school and teachers through various forms of arts – hilarious comedy, songs, choreography, fun games etc.

The event commenced with lighting lamp and chanting gaytri mantra. The Manager Dr Prem Kumar began his speech with a tribute to all those teachers who contribute in shaping lives. He further said, “The nation is going through an amazing process of growth and positive transformation. Teachers too need to transform their outlook and approach towards teaching for making students future ready.”

The teachers during Panel Discussion shared their views to make NEP the most effective and productive for the students. Principal Mr. Guleria greeted and congratulated teachers on their special day. He motivated them to perform their role of nation builders with added enthusiasm. The event concluded with a sumptuous lunch provided by the school.

They penned down the short biography of the Second President of India whose birthday is celebrated as Teacher's Day. They showcased their love and gratitude for their teachers also by making beautiful bookmarks with quotations, Greeting Cards and writing Articles on their favourite Teacher.

The class IX C showcased an impactful Class Presentation .

The class IX C showcased an impactful class presentation on the theme 'The Essence of Languages,' where the students brilliantly expressed their creativity and talent through engaging activities like poem recitation, embodying essence of renowned authors and poets of various languages, sharing proverbs from different cultures, speech, song and dance. They passionately conveyed the message of promoting the elegance of regional languages.In addition, Parents,teachers, students and support staff became active participants of 'Swachhta Pledge' proposed by CBSE under 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan ' in the end of assembly. It was a powerful and eye-opening assembly that left a lasting impression on the audience.

INTER HOUSE BADMINTON TOURNAMENT

Committed to the holistic development of its students, BCM School Chandigarh Road organized an Inter House Badminton Tournament on 1 and 2 September 2023. The two day event was declared open by the Principal DP Guleria on Friday and culminated on Saturday with declaration of the names of the winners and inspirational words by the Principal. 
The final combat was fought between the players of Yamuna and Satluj House. Under able leadership of Vaibhav Gossain – a national level player and Yamuna House Captain - Yamuna House won the First position whereas Satluj and Beas Houses secured 2nd and 3rd positions. 
Expressing his delight over this outstanding win, Vaibhav said, “It was an enlightening experience for all the players. We thank the school authorities for creating such platforms of growth for us and look forward to more of such events.”

Celebration of NATIONAL SPORTS DAY in BCM School, Chandigarh Road

National Sports Day is always celebrated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road with great zest and zeal. This year was no exception. A special morning assembly was conducted to make the students aware about the life history of legendary hockey player Major Dhyan Chand, whose birthday is celebrated as National Sports Day. Students were encouraged to make games & sports an integral part of their life. Students participated in Fun Races, Balancing Activities, Chess & Carrom Competitions etc. An Inter House Sports Quiz was organized for the students of different blocks. Ravi House emerged as a winner. Class III students prepared collages of traditional games of India. Students penned down the life history of Major Dhyan Chand through colorful bio-sketches. All the students participated in these activities with full enthusiasm & vigor. The main motto of these activities was to raise awareness about the values of sports: discipline, perseverance, sportsman spirit and teamwork.

BCM SCHOOL Hosts PSEB Zonal (Basketball) Tournament

BCM School Chandigarh Road hosted Punjab School Basketball Zonal Tournament. Principal DP Guleria and Manager Dr Prem Kumar declared the 3 day event open on 19 August and it culminated on 21 August 2023. A total of 50 teams of various schools of Ludhiana competed for the coveted trophies in different categories. There were 14 teams for U-19, 17 teams for U-17 and 19 teams for U-14 categories.

CELEBRATIONS OF 77TH INDEPENDENCE DAY

BCM SCHOOL Chandigarh Road celebrated 77th Independence Day on 15th August 2023 in solemn and dignified demeanour at the school ground. The Chief Guest - Veer Chakra Awardee, Lt. Col. H S Kahlon hoisted the National Flag followed by the National Anthem. Tri-colour balloons were released denoting the nation’s freedom. Shri Suresh Chandra Munjal Trustee BCM Foundation, Mrs. Rama Munjal, Manager Dr. Prem Kumar, Principal Mr. DP Guleria graced the event with their presence. The gathering also included the Section Coordinators, parents, teachers and students. The NCC cadets, members of the school council along with the representatives of the four houses presented a magnificent guard of honour and parade. The students presented musical accolades to the nation, a choreography 'Salaam-e-Hind' giving a message of national integration through dances of different states. The Chief Guest, Mr. Kahlon congratulated everyone on the auspicious occasion and asked them to safeguard the nation’s integrity and contribute to its progress. Finally, the event came to a conclusion with a vote of thanks and distribution of sweets among the staff and students. Previously, as part of the on-going week-long celebrations of Amrit Mahotsav, students participated in a plethora of activities like Patriotic Poem Recitation, Role Play, crafting Tri Colour WindMills, flags, kites and National Symbols. The School House System also organised Inter-house Panel Discussions, Quiz and Several other Inter-House/Class activities.

ECO CLUB, secondary wing has organised an introductory counseling session event under the in-chargeship  of Raghav Bhatia (Chairperson), Smarth Singh(Vice Chairperson), Unnat Jain (Coordinator), Sanyati Jain(Secretary) , Vanshika Sharma(Secretary) Jiya, Richi, Vani, Aryan Sharma and team under the guidance of Mrs. Manju Bhatti and Mrs. Kanak Pandey for the awareness of climate crisis on 12 August, 2023. The main motive of this event was to add aesthetic value to the living environment and to bring students and parents close to the nature and  maintain ecological balance. Our mission is to plant more and more trees and reduce the non-biodegradable waste.

In this event we gifted the saplings and introduced a membership plan, So that parents can join us in our mission in this way we can get many ideas from different brains. 122 parents and teachers  joined us in our mission due to our strong determination and organized work. They also influence their children to join us. Some parents were eager to join us because they want to take step to save our environment and they have found  platform through our eco club.

We know that this is a small step but we also know that drop by drop the ocean grows. In addition to our mission this club will also organize various events throughout the year. Their activities includes conducting awareness rallies, awareness programme through presentations, discussions, debates , culture shows etc.. We shall also celebrate important days of the year like world water day, Earth Day, world environment day.

Tribute to Kargil War Heroes

On July 26 in the year 1999, the world witnessed bravery of Indian Army when we conquered the Kargil war. To make students aware of such a glorious day and to pay tribute to the martyrs who laid down their lives for the sake of our mother land, different activities were conducted from class Nursery to class VIII. Teachers explained the importance of the day to the students. A video on brave soldiers of Indian Army was screened. Students drew shadow images of soldiers. There were Poetry Recitation and Slogan Writing competitions on the theme “Let’s rejoice the victory of our Jawans”. A Bio Sketch writing competition was organized in which students penned down short biographies of Kargil war heroes. Students also saluted Indian army by making beautiful thank you cards and collages of Kargil heroes.

Van Mahotsav -Tree Plantation

On 22nd July 2023,  Community Club of BCM School Chd.Rd. hosted a remarkable Tree Plantation Activity to celebrate Van Mahotsav. Students participated eagerly, planting various saplings under the guidance of teachers and the gardener. The event fostered a strong connection with nature and taught valuable lessons about environmental conservation.  This initiative emphasized the significance of trees in maintaining ecological balance and offered a wonderful learning experience. The students' enthusiasm and dedication showcased their commitment to a sustainable future. This noble tradition will continue to inspire generations, ensuring a harmonious coexistence with nature.
