On International Girl Child Day (11 October), themed “With Her: A skilled Girl Force”, Declamation Contest, Poster Making and Poem Recitation Competitions were organized for the students in BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. The day started with a speech in the Morning Assembly expressing the importance of girls for maintaining the equilibrium in the society. The students took part in the above mentioned competitions and expressed their views. Lavanya of class VII in her speech expressed her concern towards the issue of discrimination between girls and boys. Whereas Shobhit of class VIII said “, As theworld celebrates International Day of Girl Child, India is still toiling to eliminate discrimination and exploitation suffered by the girl child.” The poems and posters prepared by students were truly demanding the gender equality and ban of female foeticide. The School Principal Mr. D.P.Guleria also expressed his concern towards the issue and also insisted the young nation to shoulder the responsibility of making India free from the clutches of gender inequality.

In School State Championship of Swimming Astha Sharma bagged Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals. Kriti Arora also won 2 Gold & 3 Silver Medals in the same competition. This competition was held at Sangrur.

To commemorate the birthday of Mahatma Gandhi –the Father of the nation, different activities were organized in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road. The students of LKG and UKG took part in the coloring activity “Clean and Green India” organized for the day .Kids of LKG drew a charkha and UKG kids drew, pasted and coloured the pictures on the theme “Swacch Bharat”. The teachers also invoked the little BCMites to keep the surroundings neat and clean.

According to the circular released by the Central Board of Secondary Education, the government has directed the schools to make school children pledge their support for armed forces by writing letters or cards for them, addressed to the nearest Army formation. Following the same guidelines Card Making and Letter Writing activities were organized in the BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana. All the students paid their gratitude and tribute to the great soldiers of India through these activities. The students also prayed for the peace & harmony. The cards and letters were truly depicting the love and adoration for Indian Army. Sanigdha of class VII said, “We salute our great soldiers who are fighting at the borders and safeguarding us. We are proud of them.” The school Principal Mr. D.P.Guleria said that the great deeds & glory of Indian Army cannot be expressed in words. Further he motivated the students to follow the path of truth and humanity.
CELEBRATION OF SURGICAL STRIKE II PRIMARY & MIDDLE WING II
To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi and 112th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister and Bharat Ratna Lal Bahadur Shastri, various events were organized in BCM School, Chandigarh Road with great zeal and enthusiasm. A special assembly began with paying homage to these great leaders and freedom fighters followed by a PPT depicting their life. Favourite bhajan of Gandhiji ‘Raghu Pati Raghav Raja Ram’ WAS recited. Teaches shared a brief overview of the life of Mahatma Gandhi, and Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, veteran freedom fighters and true and ideal exemplary models of truth and simplicity. Videos on the life history of these great personalities were shown to the students in Middle Wing. Council members shared the ideals of Mahatma Gandhiji and Lal Bahadur Shastri ji with other students. In A short speech competition students of classes I and II spoke about Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri and Importance of cleanliness. Thoughts of these great leaders were showcased in a Slogan writing Competition. A Poster making competition was also conducted on the topic “Clean India – Green India”for the students of class IV. Life history of Sh. Lal Bahadur Sharti was penned down in a “Bio- Sketch writing competition”organized for the students of class V.
CELEBRATION OF GANDHI JAYANTI & LAL BAHADUR SHASTRI
Health and fitness are the two important core pillars of a healthy body. BCM School, Chandigarh Road always promotes the health and fitness of kids and encourage them to embrace a healthier life style. It emphasizes on all-round development of hands-on motor skill co-ordination, movement, health and nutrition, first aid and game skills for games such as cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, table-tennis and athletics. Morning sports as well as specialised evening sports academies under the supervision of professionally trained, sports specific and specialized coaches give the students ample opportunity to hone their skills. Since last three years school has ties with KOOH sports, a sports education, training and sports technology company with a vision that students should embrace sports for a healthy life style. Working on the same idea a Health and Fitness Session was organized for students as well as parents in the school auditorium. The resource person was Mr. John Gloster, Chief Quality Officer of KOOH Sports. He is an Australian sports physiotherapist who also worked as physiotherapist for Indian Cricket team. In an interactive and informative session Mr. Gloster enlightened the parents as well as students about the various aspects of health and fitness and urged them to inculcate nutritious diet and physical activity in their daily routine. He also had an interactive session with school cricket team in which he gave the necessary guidelines to the young budding players to become an amazing sports person by regular practice on strength and injury management. The session was winded up by quenching the queries of the parents and students.
HEALTH AND FITNESS SESSION BY JOHN GLOSTER
Tiny tots of nursery of BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road enjoyed a rhythmic splash as they enthusiastically took part in the Hindi Rhyme Recitation competition to celebrate Hindi Diwas. The children looked cute as they rippled and swayed in accordance with the musical tunes of the poem. The participants were judged on the basis of the selection of rhymes, voice modulations, clarity, action and confidence. The winners from each section were given certificates by the Headmistress of the school. Principal Mr DP Guleria while congratulating the kids in Hindi Diwas appreciated the efforts of the students and teachers. He also opined that Hindi is not just a language it’s our identity so we should not only love but also respect this language.

Story telling competition was organized for the students of LKG in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road. This competition provided an ample opportunity to the kids to exhibit their narrative and descriptive skills. The participants narrated different stories like Value of Zero, Monkey and the Cap seller, The Foolishness etc. The students used different props & charts to make the stories lively. STORY TELLING COMPETITION || LKG ||
"Hindi, our mother tongue is a scientific language. In our thirst for exploring new horizons of knowledge and learning new languages, we should not forget our mother tongue," was the message given by students of the BCM School, Sector 32-A Chandigarh Road Ludhiana, when they celebrated “Hindi Diwas” with great fervor. As a part of observing ‘Hindi Diwas’ and to show their appreciation towards the National Language the Morning Assembly included a Power Point Presentation, thoughts, poems and speech which highlighted the importance of Hindi in the country. To mark the occasion a plethora of activities was organized. In a “ Doha Gayan “ and “ Kavita Gayan competition was the students of class I recited dohas of Saint Kabir and Tulsidas ji. Students of Primary and Middle Wing participated in Hindi Sulekh Pratiyogita, Slogan writing Competiion, Write-ups of famous Hindi Poets and Authors and Speech Competition on “Hindi- Hind ki Aan, Baan and Shaan”. The corridors of the school were filled with different hues of our National Language. Mr. D.P. Guleria, Principal of school informed students that on September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly of India unanimously resolved that Hindi would be the national language of India and encouraged the students to show respect to our mother tongue.

Origami competition was organized for the students of UKG in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road. The aim was of this competition was to develop creativity among students. Kids exhibited their great ideas and lovely creative skills by precisely folding & cutting the paper with their deft hands. “It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge.”
Teachers play a major role in making their students responsible citizens of tomorrow and good human beings. Teachers’ Day is celebrated to show our acknowledgement and recognition to the hard work put in by teachers towards development. To mark the importance of the day, a Greeting making and an Article writing (My Ideal Teacher) competition was conducted. The students exhibited their talent through beautiful cards and articles and showcased their gratefulness towards their teachers.
TEACHERS' DAY CELEBRATION
Children expressed their love and respect for their teachers by exhibiting their creativity at its best in the Greeting Card Making activity organized for the UKG students. Students used different colors, drawings stones and stickers to beautify their creations. students dedicated these cards to their teachers. The efforts of the children were highly appreciated by their respective teachers.

About 4000 students of BCM School, Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana celebrated the festive and religious fervor of Krishan Janamashtmi with great pomp and respect. The celebrations started with a Special Morning Assembly, where hymns, skit, with diverse ‘Leelas’ of Sri Krishna were presented. The students participated in Flute Decoration and Greeting Card Making that represented His ‘Leelas’ and depicted the importance and sanctity of the day. It was nonetheless brought to life by the scintillating enactments on the childhood of Sri Krishna. The teachers also made the students acquainted with the Bhagwat Geeta and Bhaagwat. The importance of ‘Janmashtami’ and the love between Lord Krishna and mother Yashoda was narrated and well enacted by the students .The School Principal , Mr. D.P. Guleria congratulated the staff members and students on the occasion. Further he motivated the students to imbibe their lives with the moral lessons from Lord Krishna’s life.
JANMASHTMI CELEBRATION II MIDDLE & PRIMARY WING II
Padam Bhushan Major Dhayan Chand’s birth anniversary is celebrated as ‘National Sports Day’ on 29th Augustevery year. BCMites were made acquainted about this legendary hockey player in morning assembly. To enrich the knowledge and interest of the students for games, Inter House Quiz Competitions on the topic ‘Sports’ were organized in Primary and Middle wing of BCM School , Chandigarh Road ,Ludhiana wherein knowledge of the students about games was tested & they were encouraged to make games & sports an integral part of their life. In Primary wing P. T. Usha team bagged first position whereas in Middle wing Ravi House stood first. Students of Middle wing also participated in Chess, Yoga and Badminton competitions. Students of four houses participated in Inter House 100 meter race in which Beas house stood first and Ravi house bagged second position. A Cricket match was also organized between students of classes IV and V.Class V won the match.All the students participated in these activities with full enthusiasm & vigor. The best way to assess one’s intelligence and competitive skills is to conduct regular Olympiads. Following the same path, first round of Britannia Conquest I.Q. Olympiad was conducted for the students of classes III-V. A total number of 148 students appeared in this Olympiad in which they attempted variety of questions from various subjects like English, EVS, Mathematics, Computer, G.K., Art and Aptitude. The questions were in the form of objective type, calculation based, crossword etc. The participants who will be qualifying this round, they will be selected for the next round.
BRITANNIA CONQUEST I.Q. OLYMPIAD 'FIRST ROUND' || PRIMARY WING ||
Continuing with the British Council activities and embedding internationalism into curriculum, the middle wing organized the activity ‘Water : Soul of the Earth’ in collaboration with its partner school Imaad School, Nekki, Nigeria to exchange knowledge and views on the global issues like water pollution, floods and droughts.
The activity was commenced with ‘An Expert’s Lecture’ wherein the students were familiarized with the concept of water, its importance & uses, water pollution, water cycle, rain gauge, water treatment ,flood and drought both in India & Nigeria. BCMites were also showcased the PPT shared by our partner school. Thereafter, the students enthusiastically depicted their knowledge through scrap books and water cycle diagrams and the same were exchanged with the partner school to put our efforts collaboratively for this global concern.
British Council International Activity – Water : Soul of the Earth II MIDDLE WING II
“Raksha Bandhan” is a special occasion to celebrate this emotional bond by tying the holy thread around the wrist of loving brother. This sacred festival “Raksha Bandhan” was celebrated in the BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road on August 25.Students of Nursery, LKG & UKG, participated in “Rakhi Making” activity with a great zeal and zest. Kids made beautiful rakhies with flowers, pearls and colorful stones.

To improve the communicative &descriptive skills of children a ‘Show and Tell Competition’ was organized in Kindergarten wing of BCM Chandigarh Road for the students of LKG on 20th August 2018. 30 students from the different sections of LKG took part in the final round of the competition. Kids exhibited their confidence and articulation skills while speaking on the topics like-save trees, books, save earth etc .Ms-Paramjeet kaur and Ms Suniana Makhija(parents of the students) judged the competition. To instill the good qualities like goodness, honesty, empathy, discipline etc. amongst the young students of Primary Block, the Council members of Middle Block delivered lectures and narrated motivational stories to them in their classes. The young students of Primary Block learned the importance of good deeds and promised to imbibe all the good qualities in their life.

Talent Hunt competition was organized by BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road on 18th August 2018. The kids of UKG enthusiastically presented songs, bhajans, and skits. TALENT HUNT COMPETITION || UKG ||
Colors are a beautiful way to express the feelings. Children love playing with colors and putting them on canvas. To enable the Nursery students to express their tenderness through the colors BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road organized Coloring Competition. Students from all the sections of the Nursery participated in the competition and filled colors in the given picture. Winners were given certificates by the Headmistress of school.

The onset of monsoon season brings fun, frolic and festivities in its fold. The celebrations of teej during the rainy season make it more vibrant and enjoyable. To acquaint the students with this traditional festival, BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road celebrated Teej on 16 August in school premises. The students came to the school in traditional Punjabi attires. Kids also gave energetic dance performances on Punjabi numbers. The students enjoyed the traditional food items brought by them from their homes.

In order to sensitize the little minds of the value of freedom of India BCM KG Section Sec-32 Chandigarh Road celebrated Independence Day with great fervor on 13th August .The tastefully decorated campus with the tricolor flags, charts and drawings depicting the importance of the day was a feast to the beholders. All the students took part in different activities planned for the day. Nursery children felt elated while pasting bindies in the picture of national flag whereas the students of LKG made tricolor flag by cutting and pasting the coloured papers. The students of UKG showed the patriotic feelings by speaking a few lines on the importance of 15th August. So the day abuzz with activities was a rich learning experience for the young buds of KG Section.

BCM campus got wrapped in fervor of patriotism when BCMites participated in various activities planned for Independence Day. Students of Class I to III participated in a ‘Poem Recitation’ competition while students of class IV and V participated in a ‘Role Play’ competition. Students of class VI used tri colour for making flower bunches and wool hangings. Great enthusiasm was witnessed among the young BCMites. The motive behind conducting the activities was to emphasize the true meaning and value of freedom and evolution of India among the students. Through these activities rich tribute was paid to great freedom fighters who fought selflessly and sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.

Rash driving, frequent accidents and open violation of traffic rules put a big question mark on the safety of life on roads and this chaotic scene makes it mandatory for educational institutions to aware the children at very young age. Keeping the same in mind, BCM School Sec-32 organized an activity on Road Safety for the tiny tots of LKG class. The teachers intimated the students about the different rules eg-.-always move on the left hand side ,ensure to wear seat belt in car , follow the traffic lights, use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road, open the door of the car carefully, not to take the hand out of the window of a moving vehicle etc. The teachers demonstrated these through the well planned activity in the school campus.

Senior Citizen Day and International Youth Day were celebrated at BCM School, Chandigarh Road Ludhiana to acknowledge the contribution of the elderly people to our society & to recognize the efforts of youth in enhancing global society. The day started with a heart touching speech by Bhavya of class VIII in the Morning Assembly on ‘Our Elders -Our Pride’ which emphasized that elderly people are like a big tree that saves us from the scorching heat and rain and no society can succeed without the cultural heritage and blessings of elderly people. The students of class VI also prepared Greeting Cards for their grandparents and depicted their heart felt feelings in a beautiful way. To highlight the importance of youth in today’s world, students of classes VII & VIII participated in Declamation Contest ‘Virtues and Vices For Young India’.Sarvi of class VII said , “ The main aim of this day is to promote ways to engage youngsters in becoming more actively involved in making positive contributions to their communities.” Charvi of class VI shared that Senior Citizens are the jewels and pearls of the nation as they have got opulent experience to solve the tangles of life. With the celebration of these days in the school campus BCMites recognized the efforts of the elder people and duties of youngsters towards their nation.

A world deprived of peace and harmony certainly will fall. The issue of war and peace has always been a focal issue in all periods of history among all the nations. It is important to give peace education to our young generation to reduce violence and promote peace. To meet this objective and to make students aware of the destructive and disastrous ‘Hiroshima Day ‘ a declamation contest on the topic ‘Peace and Harmony “ was conducted. Members of Articulators club of classes IV and V participated in it.
