BCM Kindergarten Chd. Road expressed their admiration and gratitude to the Indian army by celebrating ‘Army Day’ with a great enthusiasm. Little BCMites took part in the activities planned for the day with a great zeal and zest. Where the students of LKG made tricolour flag by tearing and pasting the colourful paper strips, the students of UKG drew and filled colours in the pictures of ‘Amar Jawan Jyoti’. Different video clippings related to the life of Indian army were shown to the kids. Teachers also explained the heroic efforts of Indian army in the form of stories. Principal Mr. D.P Guleria appreciated the efforts of students & teachers and expressed his reverence to the Indian Army.
ARMY DAY CELEBRATED || KG ||
Rhymes have an enormous educational value for the kids. Early learning of rhymes & rhythmic expressions enhance the phonetic skills of the toddlers. Keeping this in mind BCM School Chandigarh Road organized ‘English Rhyme Recitation’ for the students of Nursery. This competition provided the children an opportunity to exhibit their talent and confidence. The participants chose a variety of topics for their recitation like ‘Save Nature’, Say no to ‘Polybags’, Save girl child, Pollution, Save Green Trees etc. The preliminary round was conducted in the classroom from where the children from each 8 sections were selected for the final round. The eye catching props added Icing to the cake. The winners were given certificates by the Headmistress of school.

BCM SCHOOL ALUMNI ASSOCIATION FORMED
BCM School, Chandigarh Road called for a brief meeting of its former students to form BCM Alumni Association. In this close knit gathering some of the former BCM students who are now holding distinguished positions in their respective fields showed their presence. S. Gurashish Singh (Assistant Manager, KPMG, Guru Gram) was unanimously selected the President of the Alumni Association. Sushant (Advocate) as Vice President, S. Simrandeep Singh (CAD Engineer, R & D Centre) as Secretary and Dr. Abhinandan as Joint Secretary were chosen for other responsibilities. Mr. Akshat Mehandiratta (Branch Manager HDFC), Sabreena Nayyar Mehandiratta (PGT Science), Tanvi Nagi (Famous singer & actor), Sunwinder Singh (Star Performer of DIL HAI HINDUSTANI-2), Dr. Devender, Dr. Swati and few other illuminating personalities from the BCM Alumni were also present to attend the meeting. The Principal D.P. Guleria addressed the Alumni and sought their volunteering support for betterment of the school and society. Mr. Prem Kumar (Executive Director LBCM Foundation) in his address to the gathering gave valuable guidelines for planning further strategies of the Association. The Association aims to organize student welfare programmes like counseling/ awareness sessions, skill enhancement seminars/ workshops and also an Annual Alumni Meet that would provide an opportunity to the students to revisit their Alma Mater and reconnect to their roots.
Christmas brings cheer and joy. BCM School, Chandigarh Road celebrated Christmas with same fervor spreading the message of love and happiness. The campus wore a festive look with bells, streamers and a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. The entire school vibrated with the echoes of Christmas carols, sung during a special Morning Assembly. Students were told about the birth of Lord Jesus and the legend of Santa Claus. BCMites celebrated Christmas by exhibiting their talent through several activities such as Christmas Scene drawing, Decorating the Caricature of Santa Claus, Wreath Making and Carol singing. The boundless joy of celebrating the festival was amply visible on the faces of the children.
CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION || PRIMARY WING ||
In order to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan(22 December) , and to make the students aware about his contribution to Mathematics, Maths week was celebrated in BCM School, Chandigarh Road with great enthusiasm which concluded on December 22,2018. In order to create interest of the students towards the subject, different activities were under taken in school. In this reference both primary and Middle wing students show cased a lot of mathematics tricks. Class I to class VIII performed interesting activities according to their level such as in primary section activities based on Mathematical shapes, Fractions, Preparing Bills, Perimeter of Irregular Figures and life history of great Mathematicians were taken up. In classes VI to VIII students participated in Designing Math’s Book, PPt competition on the topic’ Uses of Math, Model making on the topic ‘Fun with Shapes’ etc.

To celebrate the festive fervour of Christmas, Carol Singing activity was organised for the students of Middle Wing. The students sang the ‘Jingle Bell…..’, ‘Wish you a Merry Christmas’ which filled the whole campus with cheerfulness.

Three days AthleTic meet for UKG class in BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road was declared open by Principal Mr D.P. Guleria. The young BCMites holding different color flags marching together on the grounds not only gave a pleasant start to the meet but also captivated the hearts of the beholders. There were 7 events like – Achieve the target, Clean India green India race, English mania race, Ice-cream race etc. The audience comprising of the parents of the tiny tots were elated to see their children actively taking part in the events. The participants and position holders were encouraged with medals.

BCM Kindergarten organized a ‘Quiz Contest’ for the students of LKG class to stimulate the knowledge and to foster a healthy competition among the students. The four teams comprising of 3 students each duly titled Mind Bogglers, Master Minds, Bright Sparks, Quiz Magicians competed with each other. The quiz was divided in 7 rounds i.e. General Awareness, Whose Who, Rapid Fire Round, Word Powering round etc. They out performed each other to become the winners. The audience comprising of parents were elated to see their child’s performance. Trophies were given to the winners and books were given to the participants by the Headmistress.

The motive of celebrating Ganit Week is to make students acquaint with the subject in a better way and help them to cognize the subject in a fun manner.

Little hands and imaginative minds came together in a creative burst of energy in the Best out of Waste Competition organized for UKG. Little BCMites came to school armed with re-usable and re-cycle able material like old newspapers, match boxes, old clothes, bangles, cartons, ice-cream sticks, used CDs and much more. They created an amazing array of displayable items and objects which can be of much in routine life and left the beholders spellbound. Winners were given certificates and books were given as a souvenir to the participants by the Headmistress of school.

BEST OUT OF WASTE COMPETITION || UKG ||
Corruption is a complex social, political and economic phenomenon that affects all countries. December 9 is designated as International Anti-Corruption Day by United Nations. To raise awareness about this evil among the students , a “Cartoon Making Competition” on the theme “ Say no to Corruption”- Every no Counts and a “Hasya Kavita Competition on the theme “ Bhrashtachaar ka Badhta Prakop” was organized in classes IV and V. Debsmita of V H bagged Ist Prize in Cartoon Making and Harit Rattan of V J and Aaraadjya Jain of IV D got Ist prize in Hasya Kavita Competition.

Students of Middle Block observed ‘Armed Forces Flag Day’ on 7th December, 2018, where in a galore of activities were conducted for students which included Flag Making Competition, Poem Writing and Article Writing on the topic –“My Flag My Pride”. Apart from above stated activities, following the guidelines of CBSE, a seminar on “Armed Forces Flag Day” was also conducted in the school auditorium. As a role of citizenry, the students took vows to voluntarily contribute towards providing care, support to them.

BCM KG Section organized Button Tucking & Shoe Lacing activity. The teachers initially gave demonstration to the students which were followed step by step by the students. This activity was conducted to make the students self-reliant and help them in building self-confidence.

Clay Modeling helps to develop eye hand co-ordination. It not only provides children a lot of fun and excitement but also helps in promoting their talent. An inter section ‘Clay Modeling Competition’ was organised for the students of UKG class in which 20 students shortlisted from different sections showed their skills in the art of clay modeling. The motive behind this competition was to stimulate the imagination of the children and enable them to give it a better shape. There was a lot of gaiety & enthusiasm among the participants. Mrs. Pragati Kapoor, Headmistress of school encouraged the students by giving them prizes.

To celebrate the Book Week, a throng of activities were organized in BCM School Chandigarh Road, Ludhiana for the students. The students had inspiring moments during the activities such as Inspirational Story Telling, Book Review Writing, Quiz Contest, Book Mark Making, Elocution Competition, Book Cover Making etc. The entire week witnessed great exhilaration and excitement all around the school campus. Special morning assembly was conducted by the students of Middle Block, wherein the students were apprised of the fact that every genre of book is important and, if we allow them, books can open up world to each and every one of us. The teachers also explained students the importance of books and the role played them in one’s life. Encouraging the students, The School Principal Mr. D.P. Guleria said, “Books are man’s best friend. All children should develop habit of reading good books which enrich one’s vocabulary and imagination. This would go a long way in shaping the personality of a student.”

Kids Exhibited their great ideas and lovely creative skills by skillfully folding & cutting the paper with their deft hands. The students of Middle and primary Wing remembered the Nation’s first Prime Minister on his birth anniversary and celebrated the day with full enthusiasm. The day started with a special morning assembly highlighting the life history of Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru through a PPT. The school choir sang the melodious song “Bachche mann ke Sachche”. An Elocution on ‘Children- Future Of Nation’ was also organized for the students.

The festival of Diwali was celebrated in BCM Kindergarten Chandigarh Road with great enthusiasm. The children attired in colorful attires added vitality to the day. The little BCMites hailed Deepwali by enthusiastically taking part in diya & candle decoration activity planned for the day. The participants showed the creativity to their best. The teachers also told the students about the relevance of this festival & advised them to have green & safe Diwali. The Principal, Mr. D.P. Guleria wished them a happy and safe Diwali.

The gaieties of Diwali started with the special morning assembly where students talked about the significance of the festival how good always conquers the evil and also about why and how Diwali is celebrated across the country. The class in charges delivered a lecture on ‘Importance of clean and green Diwali’ and discussed about traditional way of celebrating Diwali with lamps and flowers. A plethora of activities like Toran making, Diya decoration, Elocution on Eco- friendly diwali and inter house rangoli competitions were conducted in Primary wing.

Almost 30 shortlisted students took part in the final round of the competition while giving a tough challenge to eachother. Participants came in colorful attires and swayed & tapped on the melodioustunes. The audience comprising of the parents of the participants was left spellboundwith the energetic moves of the contestants. Cleanliness is a habit which must be inculcated among the kids. Personal hygiene and cleanliness go side by side. It is an old saying that if we keep ourselves clean we shall keep our surroundings clean. Keeping all the things into mind Hand washing activity was carried out in BCM kindergarten Chandigarh Road. Children were made aware of the reasons responsible for hands getting dirty. They were also guided to wash their hands before having their meals as dirty hands are the root cause of different diseases. Teachers taught the kids different steps of washing hands.
